Screw that, you be better off transfering you'r VHS to a new VHS! Discs only last as long until they start skipping or don't read at all. You'r stuff is then lost for-ever. If the tape inside a VHS cassette snaps you simply stick it back together and no finalizing! besides, VHS has atleast a twenty year life span if not longer! DVD doesn't necessarily give a better picture either, if you have a good quality VHS tape and a good quality VCR the picture can be better than that of a DVD! Try it.
I have problems with the VHS to DVD software. I got everything down except for one problem. The DVD is not 100% burn. What does that mean? Now, I have the files in my computer but not on the DVD.
How long does this process on average or usually take? Depends on equipment? Also duration of the tape? 2 hr tapes and up to 6hr recordings. I would appreciate any input or informational responses. Thanks
Hey thats a cool stuff!! Can I add or edit subtitles to a movie from German to English using that converter? Please you help will be appreciated!! Thanks in advance
is there a way to put DVD on a VHS tape? my english teacher only has a VCR and not a DVD player and i want to burn a DVD onto a tape so he can use it because it is a very hard movie to find let alone on DVD... how would i go about doing this or is it even possible anymore :/
And what we have to do with this VCR Machine and those three white-Red-yellow colors cables and the Tape ???
where we've to unplug those colors cables ? and last question, an USB and a cable to take IN your audio and video "Easy Easy What we have to do whit it ?
you dont need to buy all this fancy shit. i got myself a dazzle dvd recorder and ive been turning all my families mini-vhs's into dvd's using windows movie maker and dvd flick.
I loved this video ! Thank you for sharing your knowledge ! Could you also teach me how to transfer files from an external hard drive to a computer ? I bought an external HD and saved some movies to it and I would love to be able to transfer them back to my PC so that I can burn them to dvd , using ConvertXtodvd , but I just don´t know how to do it . Could you help me ? Thank you so much !
I connected my VHS-DVD-combo to a HDD-DVD Recorder and the dubbing works fine, the only disadvantage is, that you have to watch the whole movie while copying. This takes about 1:30 hours. If commercials interrupt the movie, you can generate chapters and cut out the commercials simoultaneously.
Vhs is also not obsolete quite yet i still use it alot and i know alot of other people that still do. I have over 300 tapes and im not getting rid of them anytime soon. I also have DVHS which is great. Tapes do not deteriate as fast as people say i have ones from 1982 and there still fine.
I need some help , just had a nightmare with an easycap rig. wont try those again. What I want to do is transfer from vhs and dvr to my pc and maybe dvd.
Most of these devices are crap. You MUST have a Time Base Corrector, (TBC) inbetween your VHS and digital recorder when converting analog to digital, otherwise the video signal will always look dull in color and luminance, fuzzy, color shifted and misaligned. If you can afford it, buy a Canopus ADVC-300. It has built in TBC and can also handle DV as well. It's also bi-directional, meaning you can output from a computer to analog or digital or record onto a computer. :)
this guy pisses me off. "to you young people out there this is a VHS. It has video on it. and you need a VCR to play it." I FUCKING KNOW WHAT A VHS IS!
@der363 Me too. Half of my videos are still on VHS tapes. There is many people that still doesn't know what is a DVD. But only babies and 5 year old kids on't know what is VHS or VCR!
crazy thing is if you watch vhs on an old tv its looks decent, its when you watch VHS on a new tv it looks awful! I think that is because the old tvs are matched to the VCRS also if you have a decent record player an a decent amp tha quality is wicked
i have a small cassete from my handy camara but i wan to see the tape ..but the plobem is that i dont have the camara only cassette....??? can i do a dvd ?? with the cassette?
I TOOK IT BACK TO WHERE I BOUGHT IT & THEY SAID CANT HELP YOU YOU OPENED IT WHAT THE HELL WAS I SUPPOSED TO DO LEAVE IT IN THE BOX & JUST LOOK AT IT ? ITS LIKE BUYING A NEW CAR GETTING IN IT WONT START .SO YOU WALK BACK IN AND TELL THE DEALER THE NEW CAR WONT START AT ALL.AND THEY SAY WELL TO BAD YOU GIVE US YOUR MONEY OPEN THE DOOR AND WERE DONE WITH YOU.HA HA MONEY MONEY WE GOTS YO MONEY.
i have a problem, when i first got this program, everything worked fine. then out of no where, when i capture video, the video and audio stalls (pauses at random moments (about every 3 seconds)) the video that is captures has a lot of cuts and the audio gets messed up.
I tried using Roxio but it started to play really jerky on the computer when it was still playing fine on my camcorder. I was told it was because the video was not being transferred through the Roxio Capture Card fast enough!
This post was make for me. I still have a slew of Beta-Max tapes and a huge collection of VHS tapes that have never been been produced in the DVD format.
After checking Amazon and the web movie sites, it seems that this will be the only way to go for the stuff I own.
Home movies that you have shot should not contain any copy protection-(Macrovision) unless the video had been edited by some professional company and they have put this on.

Honestech VHS to DVD comes with S Video, I have been using it a lot and it works great. The Deluxe version can burn Blu Ray also. My wife got it free for a review, but I think it's great. @wilkes85 VHS tapes CAN be copy protected, just like Compact Cassette tapes can be. By pulling out the tab that's next to the long rectangular label.
And if that alone causes you to lose faith, then maybe you shouldn't live among men.
