Huh? I have their 1st 2 albums, they don't sound like this. Actually, wasn't John Elefante the one who first sang this song in Kansas, before he left? He does have quite the vocal range. I hope the album has some more rock, though, "It's a Jungle Out There" is an awesome song.
@CPRpaintball - I love this pussy bullshit :P Sorry, "Mastadon" was taken already by Elefante DECADES before the Metal/Prog Band (and I like stuff heavier than the newer Mastadon band, I guess that makes me a Pussy with Balls :p).
@md65000 Yes, Kerry was involved. Most of these songs are available on John Elefante's new solo album "Revolution of Mind," which you can download from his website or iTunes right now. Kerry co-wrote and performed on an "epic" Kansas style 11-minute track called "Down By The Lake." Great tune. Anyway, this version of "Dust" isn't on the Elefante album, but you can download the single from iTunes.
@md65000 Basically, it breaks down like this - I think it was released as Mastedon 3 in like Japan and Europe or something. In the states it is John Elefante and Mastedon and its called "Revolution of Mind." Same tracks on the Elefante release minus this "Dust" track. Kerry Livgren "involved" might be overstating it, but he is a major collaborator and performer on the album's most epic and "Kansas-like" track. There you have it!!
John Elefante was in Kansas for two albums, Vinyl Confessions and Drastic Measures. In the 80's, naturally. I was just referring to the ridiculous amount of times he's covered Dust after he left Kansas.
I was just wondering what the johnson treatment is. Or do I not want to know? As for the song, some guys make an entire career out of one song. At least thats a good one.

2009, Kerry Livgren and John Elefante rejoined together in MASTEDON, performing "Dust in the wind".

@chuytony7 Are you serious - was Kerry Livgren involved with this recording?

@md65000 yeah I heard so, I think it was in an amazon.com review or john elefante's website.

Awesome tune from Livgren, nice to hear Elefante sing it again. He and his brother are so prolific and creative, amazing musicians. Rock on!
