  • Respect ! i love it

  • MMmmmMMmmm Ihave Badu Fever, shes the Greatest! :))

  • (2)

That being said, quit fussin' at each other about black and white. b/c even though miss badu is very afrocentric, this song highlights aspects that transcend race. SOME of it is, but SOME of it is universal. i get frustrated just as the next "Negro" when I think about our ppl getting' jacked and disrespected for their work...but that does't mean that white ppl cant listen. all of them not here to take her sh** and lets keep it real, cant no white chik do eryka like eryka does eryka, LOL.

  • (1)

i think it's fine (and necessary) to talk about race, but not when theres hatred. every white person isnt evil. i do agree w/ comments about elvis. many of those historic white artists pretty much jacked black people HARD for creativity and its a shame that some white ppl are/were so ignorant that they couldnt appreciate something til their own does it. (like w/ eminem) still, i don't think they should be kicked when they listen to our artists. some of them appreciate and respect.

  • elvis ripped off every thing and every one from big momma thortons hound dogg made 20 years before elvis and way better to little walters tune my baby . he was good as he grew up around blacks and had the gift but he never gave credit to the truth of the music he ripped off , thats why i dont respect elvis as a artist . for the 9 peps who dislike this jam your soul is disconnected ,because this groove makes you move .you must be from the non rythem planet .planet no soul

  • YESSIREE!!!!

  • Love the 'fro!

  • Ohh God I love her hair.

  • does anyone else love the afro or is it just me?

  • @judahruddy Yes, i love it. But she isn't wearing it for style. She's makin' a statement. Third eye needed.

  • she is so powerful

  • i'm not intending to take any props from your opinion or your perspective of history, but if you woull like to be taken seriously, i would strongly suggest that you learn how to spell and improve your grammar.

  • @impalady Fuck English grammar, the english man and England. We don't have to speak like u, as ur forefathers forbd us to speak in our motha tongue. We taught u language. Check Ancient Kemet u arrogant bastard.

  • music don't have a damn color. leave that mess alone and LISTEN. have a conversation relevant that the blind or colorblind can relate too. thieves, haters and liars come in ALL colors. stop promoting the wackness and enjoy the queen's music.

  • @truedtaylor fool, her music is was prompts thinking people to think deeper. She is a master at making revolutionary thought palatable. U just "enjoy" her music, i am inspired by her music! Third eye needed.

  • fabuleux,authentique,veritable,beautifoul,i love

  • I don't know how people in this audience could stay sitting during this song!

  • To my folks on the picket line Dont stop til you change dey mind I got luv fo' my folks Baptized when the levy broke We gone keep marchin' on Until you hear dat freedom song And if you think about turning back I got the shotgun on ya back And if you think about turning back I got the shot gun on ya back BLLAAAA (BLAT!)
  • 'AND IF YOU EVER THINK OF TURNING BACK,

GOT THE SHOTGUN ON YOUR BACK!'

  • damn she got ass.

  • An individual's history reflects who he/she really is/are so forgetting is like falling to the state of non- existence I would say. By JaBra.

  • just wonderful.

  • 11811 yeah

  • This is SO HOT Miss Badu. Thank you! I LOVE your vibe. The QUEEN of Soul. Nobody does it better. At least not right now. LOVE. Lots of it......

  • right on @BootyLee .

This song is about the struggle, about perseverance and moving forward with progress as the only alternative we should accept. Whats wrong with fighting for equality? You don't have to be black to be in the struggle too, you just have to be bigger than those who oppress you to overcome them. She is so great with her words, and her message is not one of hate, as so many people on this comment section are too blind to see

  • Errbody know what the song's about...HOT LIKE KINDLED COALS....SMOKING!!!!

  • Explain why its okay to be black and proud but not white and proud?

  • @suihkubad I am white and proud and have nothing whatsoever against other races

  • @suihkubad have you been so blind to not see the system and government is in favor of you and not others wake up and stop saying silly victim statements when you ARE NOT A VICTIM IN AMERIKKKA IT HAS BEEN SET UP FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO DON'T WANT ANYONE BEING PROUD OF THEMSELVES AND TRYING PEOPLE FEEL ASHAMED THAT THEY ARE PROUD OF WHO THEY ARE THAT IS SOME MICKEY MOUSE ASS PSYCHOLOGY

  • @suihkubad you can be white and proud. it is ok because you dont make it ok. and i believe you know this but you just dont want people to know what you are really saying.systematically blacks have been made to feel ugly and that mind set has been passed down from slavery, we are finally learning how to be proud of ourselves. we have a long way to go. do you understand now?

  • @suihkubad To be White and proud of killing of indigenous people all over the world. Rape, Murder, Rob, destroy, etc. Yeah, go ahead a be proud of White Supremacy. Ya'll doing a great job!!!

  • @samella35 the fuck I have done? I'm 17

  • @suihkubad Benefitting from your ancestors evil, wicked deeds, at the expense of my ancestors. Silently living and being nourished off the blood of my ankhcestors; preaching to the oppressed and refusing to preach to your coherts to practice justice and equality to those who have less in the Knu Knighted Snakes of Amerikkka. I don't expect u 2 understand. For u are of your father, the devil.

  • @samella35 Thats racist

  • where can I find that damn wig????

  • They be tryin to hide our history, but they know we are, BLK GODS & GODDESS!!!!!! hotep!!!!!!!

  • i love her hair

  • So sickk!

  • i love taht harriet tubman reference on i got the shotgun on your back

  • Erikah got a damn nice booty lol

  • I just wanna touch her hair. I just wanna do it, maybe get a bit of her essence.

  • white dude here.... who love her lirycs and music gives wet eyes. Erykah Badu!!!!!! is the bomb

  • One of the most beautiful modern synthesis of American "black" music . And what a Band behind !

  • they trying to hide the history, because they know who we are....u go gurl!

  • erykah is a true talent

  • YESSSSURRRRRRIIIII!!!

  • PLAY IT AGAIN.....

  • I love her hair, I love her voice, her style, I love Erikah.

  • WOW!

That hair, is a reflection of her voice!

  • everytime i hear her voice i get goosebumps

  • What I hear in Erykah's music transcends race and culture. It is all inclusive and embracing, because she seems to me to know that every single person in this world goes through the exact same shit in one way or another. It would be nice if the black people who spend their time trolling these channels hating on white people left right and center would shut up and listen to what she has to say.

PS - What in the hell does KFC chicken have to do with Erykah Badu? Egads!

  • @MyOnlinePlaylist - LMAO at "egads"!!! SHOUT OUT TO THE MUSIC MAN!!!

  • I love you Erykah! You are so damn sexxxxxy... Marry Me! U don't want J-Electronica, u want me...

  • this is unforgivably! black.....lovin it Badu...

  • this is unforgivably! black.....lovin it Badu...

  • This is what true music sounds like

  • get off that race shit allready im 28 ive seen wars had to sleep on the floor becouse of bullets and youre angry what happend 300 years ago go jump off a balcony my neighbour wanted to burn our house and when i see him i always say hello becouse im better then that

  • @vulic1983 you obviously sound stupid. dont you know that things are passed down? and you are from the uk i presume? maybe you need to understand to be understood before you shoot your self in the foot. oh wait you already did

  • @vulic1983 U blind, arrogant fool! U may not speak of what occurs to the Ancient African Descendants. do u experience what we experience? Hell, naw. Language taken, land taken, Spirituality/Goddess taken, Right to educate/read taken, children, husband and wives taken; discriminated against employment, mis-education, taught lies, White Supremacist Govern't, incarcerated, guenie pig testing (Syphlis/Aids.) U keep ur mouth shut. Tell the jews to no longer speak of the "holacaust."

  • @vulic1983 I'm sure she wasn't talking about that history which everyone is well aware of but the history that came before that which alot of us are ignorant of. But then again not alot of people care about that. No thats not important because ofcourse history and the psychology of it and spirituality of it does not matter any more we all think we guide ourselves when its the history of who we were and came from that acually makes our mindsets.. but no need to argue bcuz I'm unmovable n opinion

  • @duyuctaz It's been said, "You can't tell a damned fooling anything!!!"

  • @vulic1983 smh white ppl always want to tell black ppl what to do....prime example.

  • Thank you for rockin the fro ♥

  • chills!

  • @toretsblaby that's right! god created one race:the human race

  • @caughtintherhythm True Dat. Man created the Caucasian through genetic splicing. Ya'll are a degenerate from the original Ancient African. Can u say "cloning."

  • @samella35 Really, Caucasians were created through genetic splicing? Which scientific journal published this information? How many respected scholars support this wacky idea? Are you stating that as a fact? How do you know that? Did you find a bottle with an all-knowing genie that told you this? Or did you hear this from a rapper? Not all, but a lot of 5 percenters sound like they have some screws loose. Wisdom comes with age, that's why Malcolm X dropped his racist ideology later in

  • @samella35 his life after his trip to Mecca. Type "slavery" into Google and you'll see that the practice of slavery is much bigger than the U.S. It's still going on today, even in Africa where blacks are enslaving other blacks. So, if you are going to hate whites for it, you have to hate blacks for it as well. Please understand, that slavery is more about economics than it is about racism. There are many white people who risked there lives trying to help blacks escape slavery

  • @samella35 through the underground railroad. Do some research into this topic, so you kick out the incorrect ugly ideas in your mind and invite in the beautiful truth. Evil and good exist in all races. Which side are you on? We are all equal!

  • @queensNY2185 the thing is..it's a game..you should neither hate whites nor africans...but Africans should realize theyre much more than who they think they are...we built this country....our lineage is ancient and divine...we are kings and queens...we liberated europe from their insanity...they were sleeping with mules , cows , chickens , sheep , and pigs when the moors gave them that knowledge...the moors cleaned them up...there is a paradigm..they do not want us to wake up...

  • @sasukerucker Europe was named after the Phoenician goddess Europa ... the phoenician religion has its roots in Africa...these were African people...the Europeans actually evolved from an african group of people..whom migrated there 60,000 years ago, over the course of those years they evolved out of the genotype and phenotypic features of the african...according to the climate

  • @sasukerucker Of course slavery geographically has its roots in every major culture...but European slavery was an intentional wipe out of the African pride...they dehumanized the people...separated families....its much more than the average slavery...it is still effecting us...slavery is mental..sub consciously absorbed through the generations...they want to keep us sleep...docile so we wont remember what we were...because over night..we would become kings again...its about resources..

  • @sasukerucker it is about resources....Africa is a center of international Trade....Gold, diamonds, minerals, and etc...countless..bountiful ....if we wake up and take control...we would regain power...they dont want that..they want control over the masses..this doesnt mean hate all people of European descent...no..were trying to reach a goal...theyre just in the way...and after this..there is no way we'll forget what theyve done...we are the stewards of this planet..

  • @sasukerucker the thing is..the Africans played their game...theyre the ones that sought value in the material Europeans brought to African..when we had the most valuable resources in the world..already BENEATH OUR FEET!....we were naive ...some of us dont want to wake up...we were close...Marcus Garvey...so CLOSE ...his movement was the most influential...Dr. King and Malcolm were so close..they were actually going to combine..Huey p newton So close..the thing is we dont need 1 head..

  • @sasukerucker we need 40 million..here in America were the richest group of Africans around the globe...THE RICHEST...and if we all were head they couldnt stop us..if we were all Hueys..if we were all Garvey's

  • @sasukerucker and this is coming from a 16 year old that is neither racist...discriminatory in his actions...biased and rough to the callous...but self educated..not religious..religion is dogmatic and theological ...it is of no use to me..my ideology is ancient of the ancestors...my ideology is evolutionary revolutionary centered within the roots of the very planet..my ideology was birthed from the Great civilizations of Africa..

  • @sasukerucker now you go and believe the evil of the elitist / pessimistic / totalitarian / capitalist / fascists is as equal to the evil of everyone else...the people that kill Billions and make trillions...

  • @queensNY2185 the Europeans make up 1/10 of the planet..we are not the minority

  • @sasukerucker You seem like a person who is well-read for a 16 year old. That's cool. I wasn't saying that the evil of the elitists is equal to the evil of everyone else. I was trying to say that all races should be treated with equal dignity and respect. I would agree though that the evil of those elitists is worse because like MLK I judge by a person's characte and not by skin color. I was responding to someone who was making a lot of racist comments about white people because

  • @asuerucker of slavery. But, I think that the slavery that went on doesn't give a person strong reasons to hate an entire races because all races at one point or another have engaged in enslaving other people. Hating an entire race based on the actions of some people who are of that race is not the right way to go. A lot of Arabs are suicide bombers, but I wouldn't say that all of Arabs are like that just because some of them do that. I judge each individual by that individuals

  • @sasukerucker actions and not by the race that they are apart of.

  • @sasukerucker exactly

  • This is the kinda music missing on MTV Channels. We don't hear enough of this and all we get to see and hear is talentless shit by lady gagaga, etc etc

  • someone else besides erykah badu has used this sample i just cant think of it right now and its killing me any help?

  • @SuperheroMusick Go to who sampled dot com and search for it. The drum seemed to sampled by a lot of artists. examples - "chi-city" by common, "gone" by kanye, "versus from the abstract" by ATCQ.

  • has no one listened to the beginning lyrics, a brother is packing heat, is she not talking about a black person killing a kid who wants to make something of his life? this is why i love erykah, shes fair and speaks the truth.

  • "what am I talkin' 'bout everybody knows what this songs about, they be tryin hide the history cause they know who we are." I guarantee you one thing, she ain't talkin about white people and if that makes you uncomfortable then oh well. But what I don't think should happen is that I should keep quite because of you are uncomfortable. Race in my opinion is a beautiful thing. Yes we are all human no one needs to be reminded of that. But I am sorry, this entire album is AFROCENTRIC deal with it!

  • Damn. she killed that. "And if you think about turnin' back, I got the shotgun on your back." oooooooooooo wee!

  • Underneath we are all the same. We all bleed the same and feel pain the same. One world, one people, one love. Unity n love. Her lyrics say it better than me.

  • @777newworldlove sounds nice, but not true. White's are not the same as Africans. Check the history. And u can cut a rat, and it bleeds. Are u the same as a rat? Genetic splicing produced Europeans. U r a degenerate from the Ancient Africans. U have Neandrathol DNA. African's don't. Some Caucasians' animal DNA shows up as tails, or full face of hair. We are from the original African Wombman. Research.

  • I think you missed my point. Underneath our bodies skin we are all equal spiritual beings of Light & love. The AWARENESS of your inner spiritual being & SOUL, that you/we are NOT only our physical bodies/skin colour is the point I am making. Of course, all of human race DNA has been mixed up by out of earth contact from other non-human races. We are all one & equal. Move on from focusing on one race/colour is superior to anougher. Who cares about pigmentation. Watch Bananimalrecords UTube.

  • @777newworldlove Preach to your people, not mine. We know Amerikkka doesn't believe as u do. Ain't nobody going for that Bullshit no more. We are wide awake. No Mo' Aunt Jemima's, prayin' to Jesus. The Giant is no longer snoring, but is waking up.

  • @samella35 As a white man, I know how much white folks have been trained to internalize white supremacy and to never question the institutions and systems set up to to benefit white folks, particularly white men. That being said, I consider myself a part of the history of white anti-racist resisters. Resistance is the key, you can't be a passive white anti-racist. The first step is acknowledgement of the atrocities past and present caused by white supremacy and ignorance, then resistance.

  • @777newworldlove "we are one and equal" is not the reality (perhaps in your bubble) to "marginalized" black and brown people. I'm empowered by Ms. Badu and others to fight racism and sexism and homophobia that still prevail. When anti-racist activists step up and then step to side to allow Black and Brown women to speak then we can care not about race and sex and etc but to listen and let us collaborate to make decisions.

  • @samella35 and you others from another black person please stfu... and just enjoy the music otherwise take your race rhetoric somewhere else. I'm so tired of racial superiority crap. Y'all hate caucasians and other peoples that much just pack up and MOVE to another damn planet already! Believe the world will not stop once youre gone. If the higher power whatever they maybe didnt want variety then there would have been just one shade one hue, one culture, one custom but there are many.

  • @777newworldlove Africans don't have Neandrothol in them. All Non-Africans do. We are not all the same. Pineal Gland is calcified in Europeans, not in Melanated People. Constitutionally, your forefathers said we were 3/5th's of humans, and they haven't changed their minds. Tell your white friends/colleagues your rhetoric. See if they believe u.

  • Every1 agrees she's a phenomenal artist..........I'm just tryin to get ova the purple pants. Ms. Badu is the ONLY 1 who could get away with that, i love this woman.

  • 21st century and people are still trapped in a race-gang mentality, i dont listen to black or white artists, i only listen to f-ing great artists.

stop hiding behind "races" and be your own man/woman.

  • @Eurobubble70 then stop playing the races games with peoples lives and then people can move on as people your statement was full of bs and you know it stop benefiting from how the system is run in your favor that was a very condescending statement you made

  • @Eurobubble70

Couldn't agree more. Be proud being black or white or asian or whatever. See that we're different on many levels but different doesn't mean better or worst. Is Eagle better from seagull; arab horse from mustang; pitbull from collie etc. etc. Yes, I can't jump :) Great song!

  • @Eurobubble70 There is only one race... that is the human race :D

  • @P0GFLIPPER Yeah, that's what MLK, Jr. told us and believed. What happened to him? Take that bullshit to your people. They might let u live.

  • @samella35 sorry are you talking to me saying my people ? my people's are all "races" darling i got friends across the map from all walks of life, as i said we are the human race you are one of my people 1 love :)

    bless
