Not a bad sounding gain pedal. The clean in the beginning was darn good though. Here's a tip for you guys looking for pedals. Gain pedals are VERY amp specific. Meaning, a pedal that sounds GREAT on one amp can absolutely suck on another. Don't put 100% trust in a YT demo of any amp or pedal or even guitar. Your guitar, your pedals, your amp, you hand tone, all will play a huge role in how it actually sounds when you plug it in.
I have the ht dual. This is also intresing, but all demos i've heard of this have it sound quite one-dimensional for my ear. Something is lacking from ht blackfire's tone
I have the Blackfire and I have to say that I bought it, and then saw this video and was worried.. But, after playing with it for a while, I got a killer sound out of it. I love the sound of my Randall T2, but I thought I would get this because I am a huge Gus G fan and because it is limited edition. I'm very happy with it..
The distx really isn't that heavy, I was pretty dissapointed, this one sounds a bit better, I don't think any of the blackstar pedals do a good heavy sound though.
@VonCarnstein this one does.Believe man,the vid gives you really a wrong impression..check rob chappers's vid, you'll see how massive this pedal is..sounds enormous
@VonCarnstein yeah that was the idea, but it was pretty succesful so they decided to put it in the catalog. The dist X delivers more like a heavy metal distortion...the one coming from this one is fatter,punchier,meanier...more extreme metal oriented..a friend of mine recorded a whole album with that beast and it was amazingly aggressive (more than you hear in the samples)...i usually hate pedals (don't have any) but this one...
@taxo Nice, thanks for the info I'll give it a shot. I guess maybe my definition of "heavy metal" is actually "extreme metal" to most people and so I had the wrong expectations for the distx haha.
@godlikecharacta hi,for example some ebay-shops or musicstore.de,i just ordered mine and i´m a little confused that it is still possible though they made just 1000 pieces,so hurry up,i think it´s a quite cool piece of gear!
This pedal is much heavier than the Dual. I believe the higher gain channel 2 on the Dual may be comparable to channel 1 on the Blackfire (but still less gain). I have one of these beasts hooked up to a Blackstar amp and it is a fantastic pedal with unbelievable sustain and harmonics. A video clip can't do it justice.....highly recommended.

I wanted one of these but for the money, my Metal Muff does the heavier dropped stuff better.

@taxo Didn't they only make a limited number of these though? They should replace the distx with this.
