I used to love the Sims when it first came out but to be honest as the game upgraded I lost interest. I used to love building with this music. It created a nice atmosphere.
I love how someone has actually recorded all these songs and so many people can relate to em. Was an amazing game to be fair. My highlights? Putting the baby on a island in the middle of the pool, so the social services couldnt take it away...Bit sick really
I still have fond memories of the many , many hours of my childhood spent on the first (and to a somewhat lesser extent) sims 2. I had all the expansion packs :D. Maybe its because im older now(Almost 20) or because theres just something different with the 3rd one but i just could never get into it =\. Oh well atleast i still have my memories and the soundtrack on youtube to feed my nostalgia.
When was a child and first played Sims I listened to this track. I think that is because of this track that I learnt to play piano haha, this song brings me good memories :') I just want to live those moments again :(
I love this song I wish I could buy this soundtrack on iTunes or somewhere ... Hmm I wonder....this song takes me back to the many hours I spent building houses. Sims 1 was easier to build houses. I hardly ever build them in sims 3...
Maybe if this music was in buy mode for s3 I would spend more time building!
I remember trying to trap the Sims in an enclosed wall and burn them... Teehee. Takes me back to the memories of my "early childhood" :/... despite I'm 11. :P
Man, I remember finding the Sims way more fun than I find it now. After many years, I said to myself: "why not get Sims 3? Maybe some of that will come back" and that game is now collecting massive amounts of dust on my self.
Not only did I spend massive amounts of time building and managing my family's lives, but I, also, spent major portions of that time listening to this song. I was not at all surprised when this song popped right away as a fit for a certain time frame of my visual essay :')
I remember how addicted i got to this game. Started playing when i was 10 and now i am 19. And still playing sims 3 :) Sims 2 and 3 were fun but Sims 1 with all the awesome expansions are the bomb! Vacation, Unleashed, Hot Date, Makin' Magic, Superstar! I miss sims 1 :')
My Sims 1 doesn't work with Windows 7 anymore. Although I have the all of TS3's expansions except Ambitions, I can't bring myself to play as much as I used to play when I had TS1. TS1 ftw. <3
Ya'll gonna make me tear. I agree with almost every comment here. Sims can have time machines, why can't we?! I'd go back to the good ol' original Sim days, back when I was four. I really miss that charm, that happiness this game gave me, as well as Sims 2. Sounds silly this is just a game, ha, no, to me, it's my childhood and always will be. Only true Sim fans will only understand what I'm saying. Sims live on~~~~! <333
I found the build mode music a tad sad, most of the time, and tried to rush my business there, then eagerly getting to buy mode to fill my box house with stuff. But then buy mode music got too annoying, so I went into live mode to turn on my sim's radio, to listen to their groovy beats, haha.
PS - I lied about the box house thing. To all who built box houses; shame on you. ;)
since you can still get this music on community lots and on the stereo in the Sims 2, sometimes I make my sims go out or just turn on the radio specifically to listen to this music ahaha.
This is the email address of the man who composed the entire soundtrack to the Sims 1. I really think everyone who has come to enjoy his awesome music at least send him a few words telling him how amazing he is, so go ahead and shoot him an email.
I've taken it upon myself to learn this song. I know a few pages in and the ending (4:03 which is my favorite part). I've been struggling but I know that I will learn this song, because it's been part of my childhood for so long.
nice music. i feel like im back in 2004 when i got this game. my copy broke so i had to buy another one when i was 8. it was like...2007. i created some sims, and played with them. the thing that i would never forget is when i forgot to put some stairs for their two-story house. hehe :)
The Sims never gets old ;). Somehow its musics are so soothing that they are suitable for just about anything! A relaxing music. Great for studies and relaxing or just chilling out ;). Been playing this game when i was 8. And im 18 now and still am playing it ;). Thumbs up for The Sims! :D!
Oh, man. I remember this song with such fondness, I used to deliberately open Build Mode just to listen to it. I remember falling asleep on the keyboard listening to this after coming home from school or just listening to it whilst finishing off my homework. The Sims just isn't the same any more. I could play this game from 6 in the evening to 6 in the morning. Now, I can only play for three hours max.
Now THIS is the music I heard 90% of the time I played The Sims 1... I was always building something, trying out new architectural designs, new layouts, etc. Much of my childhood was spent in Build Mode. :D
Easily my favourite of all the tracks in any sims game, though generally, I did just prefer the Sims 1 soundtrack. Somehow, the Sims 2 and Sims 3, while technologically infinitely more advanced, just don't seem quite as 'grown up', and part of that is the music.
More technologically advanced, sure, but The Sims was something new, it must've taken a lot of creativity and smarts to come up with all the ideas of The Sims 1. Sims 2 and 3 are just mere improvements to graphics and features that the Sims can do which to me is not a fraction as impressive as The Sims 1.
I remember staying up so late playing this. This has made me so profound, for better or for worse. It was fun on the1.75GHZ 64MB RAM computer I had, or still have.
I could almost see and smell the astroturf carpets, dingy off-white wall papers, cheap patio furniture in the middle of the dinning/living room/kitchen, and the stain filled wife-beater.
I remember getting to stay home sick from school, and being so excited having the house to myself to play sims all day in my pajamas with tons of snacks :) This music is timeless, takes you back to the good old days in a second. Beautiful, but also feels sort of unreachable because you know you can never have those days back. Time seemed to pass much slower back then, when you lived in the present and didn't care about worries and deadlines :(
@honkforlove You're so right... I miss it so much that I would do almost anything to get it back, I could play for hours without having to worry about things! I can remember how I used to smile a lot and I thought that life was sooooo gooood!!! I never understood that things would change in time...
@Stuttsis but if you think about it. Even if you have things to worry about, when you get a break from those things, you can play this game to escape for a little while. Ya know? It's a nice break. I find it incredibly hard, but you can't go back. Don't waste you're life living in the past. Just chill out every now and then :)
@RabbitFrenzyy You're right, thanks for telling me that. I'm often negative xD And I never play games like I used to, so when I get my winterbreak I will try to go back to my ps2 or install the Sims.
@honkforlove i dont get to share any of these memories becase im growing up in the sims 3 world. soooo was it actully as good as most people say it is?
@jakester0852 The graphics and amount of things you can do are different between Sims 1 and 3. Sims 1 was simple - your sims did not age and they did not have aspirations. Yet you rarely got bored with Sims 1, because of the variety of things each expansion offered. IMO, it was the charm and wackyness of the game which made it so memorable. If you wanted to get into it, though, you'd probably find it difficult, because you'd compare the lack of things it has with Sim 3.
@jakester0852 Yes, period. It's more about all the nostalgia to be honest :D. I asked my brother if he wanted to play the "house game" with me all the time hehe.
I was apparently lazy and just bought houses and put furniture in them because I don't remember the building mode music like at all but the buy mode is unbearably nostalgic. lol
The grandma in the first house was so grouchy and dumb! She would always turn on the tv, go to sleep then wake up in a crabby mood because the tv was on. I was all....O__O wtf. GOTTA LOVE THE SIMS HAHA xDD
@dreamify5786 i fucken hated that grandma. she would always put shit on the floor and never clean up after herself!! and then get all grumpy like you said. she would always scream something like "dong, frag-a-dillen!"
@LittleSchleich with that being said though I did enjoy the simplicity that Sims 1 had to offer.. and the music... I mean listening to this music today just blew me away. It's BEAUTIFUL!!
I wish I was a Sim....or at least my Sim.....Rosebud cheat, Woohoo every hour, get's to live their dream job, kids obey orders, eats awesome food, Robot maids, can flirt with anyone, fight a burgalr, fight grim, fight wife, get excited about nothing, maintain weight, maintain sanity, bitch and moan if I'm hungry or sleepy, find an arch nemesis, drown kids if misbehaving (or hint player to delete ladder). Bills are cake walk to pay, no paying for gas, food is cheaper, own a foozeball machine :)
sometimes i wanna cry when i listen to this...so soothing...so memorable...i was a kid but omg the memories...not a care in the world....THIS IS MUSIC!!!
i was TEN when i first started playing the Sims ... i am now twice that age and I still play the Sims 3 (although it doesnt seem to have the magic of the original) - my major is software engineering... maybe i'll work at EA games / Maxis in the future and live out my childhood dream xD ?
My family died because I let the kids light fireworks in the house. The parents died and the children weren't allowed to use the phone so they couldn't call the firemen.
@imDezrt my brother used to make a medium-sized building, with fireplaces all around the inside walls and he would light all of them and fall asleep on a comfy chair on a flammable rug, nd he would delete the door, so not even the grim reaper could get in after he dies. after the grim reaper would give up, he would trap him in a tiny room so he cant leave. dame with burglars and everyone else XD
Oh wow, so many memories just came back at once, and I'm tearing up a little bit...Man those days were the best, playing it on windows 95 with my cousin at my place, getting scared of the clown and spending hours just trying to build a house...i miss those days...
Guys, has anyone tried installing and running Sims1 lately? I have and it looks CRAP, all smeared across and wide screen, I just wanted to know if only my copy got ****** up or the game is just not compatible with new computers.

How to create a cemetery in your neighborhood:
1.) Create a large family
2.) Enter the move_objects and money cheats
3.) Encase family in a doorless house surrounded by flammable material and set off fireworks in the house.
4.) Watch family burn to death.
5.) Move tombstones to a safe place before you create the next family to move in.
6) Repeat as necessary

The music from the first SIms game was much better than 2 and 3. Though Not saying I hate the music, but it got annoying much too quickly.

My family died because I let the kids light fireworks in the house. The parents died and the children weren't allowed to use the phone so they couldn't call the firemen.
>:D MWAHAHA.
imDezrt 6 months ago 3
@imDezrt my brother used to make a medium-sized building, with fireplaces all around the inside walls and he would light all of them and fall asleep on a comfy chair on a flammable rug, nd he would delete the door, so not even the grim reaper could get in after he dies. after the grim reaper would give up, he would trap him in a tiny room so he cant leave. dame with burglars and everyone else XD

Serious about being an architect, yes.
Less so about the inspiration. Inspiration is the least of my worries - I have something you never had in the sims.
