Translation: you were unable to spot any error in my video, and that frustrated you to such an extent that the best you could do in reply was to try an insult. How very sad your worthless life must be.
My crazy little friend, my life is glorious, you are the only person making a video on youtube making yourself out to be an idiot. Create a working model of any of your claims and post that video, other than that... you are a complete waste of air. Have a nice weekend and think about that.
You shouldn't just yell bullshit - you should say 'send me a prototype in the mail'. You keep saying 'prove me wrong and I'll IMMEDIATELY make a video where I admit I'm wrong' but this video where you flat out insult the person for making such claims contradicts your claimed policy. Remember, fantastic claims require fantastic evidence. That means you don't yell 'bullshit!', that means you yell 'prove it!' Then, WHEN he fails to prove it, you can yell 'bullshit!'
i found something glaringly wrong about your response. you use the assumption that (insert anything here) "...WILL NEVER..." (insert anything here).
boasting a complete knowledge of any system is just plain ignorant. exponentially so when the system is as young as mankind's understanding of physics.
"... you use the assumption that (insert anything here) "...WILL NEVER..." (insert anything here)."
Magnetic fields do not contain energy, therefore there will never be a device built with magnets that produce work. *NEVER,* and no amount of effort to violate that fundamental fact will succeed. You'll just have to adjust to that fact.
i think you've confused me with someone else. i made no claims of magnetic fields containing stored energy. i did point out your ignorance in assuming complete knowledge. unless you've contributed in the development of the thermodynamics model, you can't refute other's claims for or against it. you're spouting "NEVER" without giving reasoning as to why ("because someone who is smarter than myself said so" isn't justifiable reasoning). you may as well just call him a witch...
Your assertion that I claim I know everything is an error. Why is that not obvious to you?
Magnetic fields do not contain energy, therefore there will never be a device built with magnets that produce work. *NEVER,* and no amount of effort to violate that fundamental fact will succeed. You'll just have to adjust to that fact.
it's not obvious because it's a load of shit. when you claim that something can *NEVER* happen in a system, you are inherently claiming that you know everything about component behaviors of said system.
why keep repeating the idea that magnetic fields contain no energy? i've made no comments supporting or refuting such ideas. my point was that it is quite arrogant (and equally ignorant) to claim that something can *NEVER* (or will *ALWAYS*) happen. your replies are often off-target.
It is obvious to everyone with a high school educator or higher.
"when you claim that something can *NEVER* happen in a system...."
... I claim a fact.
Magnetic fields do not contain energy, therefore there will never be a device built with magnets that produce work. *NEVER,* and no amount of effort to violate that fundamental fact will succeed. You'll just have to adjust to that fact.
Let me tell you about the story of flatland. The 2-d world. everybody appeared as a sliver to everyone else on the universal plane.
Then one day, some foward-thinking "Cultists" theorized that the universe is not a plane, but a space. PERPOSTEROUS the people exclaimed! HANG THOSE LUNATICS FOR HERESY the law of a planar world is infallible!
That is, of course, until the cultists grew wings, let out a boisterous laugh, and yelled, Desertphile you dumb fucking son of a bitch and then killed.
I read the book: you remind me of the lines--- all anus and mouth with nothing in the middle.
Instead of just trying to insult me, if you spotted anything I said in this video that is wrong, by all means please do tell me what the error(s) is/are so that I will not repeat my mistake in the future. I will very much appreciate it. Thank you.
However, the goal is to create a machine that provides usable energy output from an input source that is vastly abundant.
Like the hydrodynamic dam. snow melts in the mountains and the water powers the generators of those dams. The water evaporates in the ocean and the cycle repeats. Yes magnetic force will not create energy. It is the generator connected to the machine that creates the energy. I wish I had more room to explain. I Will email you.
"However, the goal is to create a machine that provides usable energy output from an input source that is vastly abundant."
No: the goal was to get energy from magnetic fields, when it is a fact that magnetic fields do not contain energy. In other words, the goal is a lie, a fraud, a deception, a sham, a con.
"Anyone besides myself think this dudes a raving, lunatic?"
Instead of just trying to insult me, if you spotted anything I said in this video that is wrong, by all means please do tell me what the error(s) is/are so that I will not repeat my mistake in the future. I will very much appreciate it. Thank you.
Ya know, Desertphile, the first time I watched one of your videos I just thought you were a ranting dufus, but I must admit I'm starting to enjoy them. And I can't really dispute anything you say, even though I believe history has taught us that we should "never say never." Thanks for the entertainment - and physics refresher course.
"Ya know, Desertphile, the first time I watched one of your videos I just thought you were a ranting dufus, but I must admit I'm starting to enjoy them."
Er, thank you. And I *AM* a ranting dufus--- that's my only personality trait.
There are indeed many things that are known to be impossible, and performing work without energy is one of them; the lack of energy in magnetic fields is another.
Lack of energy that we have a known way to convert seems more fitting,
Im absolutley not a physics expert by any means but since you seem to know physics and respond to most post could you please explain to me what the general concenses amongst physicist is as to the origin of mangetic fields?
I agree that the leftside must equal the right side of the energy equation. I must admit I am skeptic of these "magnetic perpetual machine folks, because thare is no such thing. However, if we consider the lost of inherent magnetism of the magnets involved, that would be a conversion of potential energy into kenetic. What values involved? You guess is better than mine. Loss of magnetisim of the 'permenant' magnets is a '-' energy that could go toward maintaining motion.
"However, if we consider the lost of inherent magnetism of the magnets involved, that would be a conversion of potential energy into kenetic."
Part One: Howdy! Magnetism is a physical phenomenon, (electromagnetism), i.e., one of the four forces. Everything that contain electrons have magnetic fields, but in most objects the electric charges cancel each other out because electron spin is randomly distributed: in ferrous metals that is not the case, and the electrons spin in the same direction.
Part Two: Magnetic fields "wear out" because the electrons slowly drift from alignment to non-alignment over the span of a great many years. It is not a loss of "energy" that causes a magnet's field to degrease: it's a loss of electron alignment. One way to cause a magnet to lose its magnetic field is to heat the magnet red hot: that jumbles the alignment of the electrons, randomizing alignment.
Part I: I do not know about the cause of magnetism. However, I believe that the fact the the electrons are not randomised in a magnetic object (as you stated) would indicate that some Potential Energy is contained in the object. The release of that energy would lower the "Power" or "Force" of the overall magnetic field of the object.
Part II: This could be demonstrated by thinking of "Height" as a potential engery when gravity is involved the same way as magnetic force is an attractant or a repellent where other magnetic fields or magnetically sensitive objects are involved. HOWEVER, these "magnetic motors" do seem to be a hoax at this time. People should remember that ALL electric motors are "magnetic" whether they use permanent magnets or electrically induced ones...
I totally agree with WHAT this guy said, but now HOW he said it. He could have said exactly the same thing without resorting to profanity. Oh, one more comment..... I totally disagree with him wanting to smoke a cigarette. YUCK!!!!
You are a real life ignoramous and a foul mouthed one at that! Go amd stick your head in that stuff your bulls left behind and stop bleating your bull sh-t nonsense. Get a brain cell and see what a difference it could do for you!
Alright dumb-bo. At one time you might have known some things but are now out of practice. The extra energy comes from the stored energy or magnetic force emitted from the magnets. If you factor in the repulsion energy from the magnets you will see that there is no magic going on. A person can really put in a small about of energy and get out more (because the repulsion forces are making up the difference).
"No." That's it? Yes! There is no magic. The energy is in the form of a waves with the strength being inversely related to the square of the distance from the magnet. When the magnetic field comes in contact with, say, an electron rich coil of wire, those waves bump electrons from the coil causing a cascade of electrons in motion...i.e. current.
""No." That's it? Yes! There is no magic. The energy is in the form of a waves with the strength being inversely related to the square of the distance from the magnet."
Yes, the correct answer to your false statement is "No." Magnetic fields do not contain energy.
Hmm, While the content of your video MAY be technically correct, you did little service to the status of your intellect by inclusion of profanity. Which speaks to the core of the matter - that of a closed mind. I would repeat what I said with smaller words for you, but I really don't care if you understand or not.
hi dave, phil again, from your ars days.. re the bull manure, you can dry it out and smoke it, burn it or put put it in an enclosed space and gather the methane... you knew that of course.
I've always thought of hydro and wind as free. I don't understand why we don't have like a billion wind mills all over the country. How about using the steam from the giesers at yellowstone. isn't that free. we have more free steam than any other place in the world. Why does an oil company hold the patents on the EV1 Battery design that is just wrong. How stupid are WE. I know more energy goes into a wind mill than comes out but isn't wind free and virtually inexhaustable?
Nope. If that were true they wouldn't make them. The energy payback is probably less than three years. The reason wind, hydro and solar are not free is because they take time to pay off. You cannot plug into them without up front costs. The reason we don't have a billion of them is because everyone would bitch if they had to pay more on their bill aka shortsightedness.
"You cannot plug into them without up front costs."
That is very well-said. Some time soon I hope to make a video on the subject. Solar power, wind power, water power--- they are all extremely expensive. Hell, maybe I can do a "quickie" video on the subject....
"Why does an oil company hold the patents on the EV1 Battery design that is just wrong."
You are right--- it is not criminal for Big Money to suppress the opposition, but some times I think it ought to be. The chief problem with power from wind, sun, water, alcohol, and steam is that it costs a large bundle of money; it can be a decade or longer before it all pays for itself in savings compared to oil, after which time it must all be replaced due to wear and tear. A video shall I make!
"I think if you open the curtains behind you we'll see a city street"
ROTFL! That's *GREAT!* Good bloody GODS I wish I had thought of that! It's so funny! Thank you--- I wish I had a cityscape backdrop to add behind me. Where does one even go to get one?
I tried to video them but their ID tags are clearly visible--- I have not used the video due to privacy issues. Tomorrow I will again go video El Toro Solo here in the upper corral: he's back!
Out of all the topics you've addressed, it appears to me that there is nothing that irritates you more than the subject of "free energy"(or the twits that believe in it)
Just sit back, have a drink, and put your faith in the laws of physics to teach all of them what they refuse to acknowledge,,,REALITY!! Speaking personally, I've become fond of Free Energy clips n' vid.s. They're almost always good for a chuckle.
There is a guy who claims that you can travel through time using a tunnel full of lazers bouncing off mirrors. But you don't seen him whining about how he doesn't have a patent yet because he KNOWS he won't get a patent untill he can get the damn thing to actually work.
"There is a guy who claims that you can travel through time using a tunnel full of lazers bouncing off mirrors"
The concept appears to be sound, but it's based on unproven hypotheses at this point. Gravity probe B was supposed to test the concept of frame drag, but the last I heard it was running into problems.
But yes, your point is valid. It's a clever idea, but it doesn't appear to have been made to work yet. And no one is trying to claim otherwise.
I've got an idea. (it probably is flawed in some way but i don't know why).
Get a thin straw. Put it in a layer of water in such a way that the straw's lowest opening isn't blocked. Bend the straw downward and place a small waterwheel below the opening. The adhesion pulls the water up and gravity pulls it down against the waterwheel. The waterwheel starts spinning and you can get some energy.
Capillary adhesion is limited by gravity. You have to have the straw be short enough to bend down before the gravitational force becomes too great. Then it is merely the adhesion action and not gravity that runs the device. In essense nothing is wrong with that, but it's not free energy. The hydrogen bonds of water molecules don't spontaneously appear from nowhere. Also, the energy collected from such a device would be infinitesimal.
"So where does the energy in the hydogen bonds come from? Will it get colder?"
They come from the energy needed to fuse hydrogen particles with atomic oxygen. Heat would not be lost, no.
"And the amount of energy does not matter: any positive number is illegal, no matter how small."
This would not create energy. It would only take advantage of it. WE get more energy. The universe does not. But now that I think again, I guess the water would just cling to the top of the straw, and not drip off.
H2+O -> H20 is not hydrolysis. Hydrolysis is a process whereupon substances get water molecules added (to break these substances down). I'm assuming that our water comes from supernovas, where H+ can be found and bonded with. But I don't know this.
"and H2+O -> H20 is an exotermic process."
Okay, but what is your point? I thought you asked if exploiting hydrogen bonds will make the system lose heat. We are assuming that water is already there, right?
"But the energy from the adhesion comes from what? Not the bonds between H and O because those REQUIRE energy to break."
Hydrogen bonds. We're not breaking up H+ and O when water adheres to a surface. It's still water, but water is a dipole, and the molecules of the straw are electrically charged, either positive or negative. I suggest you look up adhesion and cohesion in wikipedia for more details.
Hi Desert, why are you still wasting your energy (pun intended!) on those ignorants. You and me both know what thermodynamics Ist & IInd law actually mean but debating those people (who often block reasonable comments that hurt their beliefs) is about as useful as attempting to convince a creationist that he is delusional, no matter how much evidence you throw at them.
he is an IDIOT hasnt he hear of basic physics, you cant just create energy from nothing what he is trying to do is by definition, IMPOSSIBLE, usually id say improbable, but no, this IS impossible, if anyone could create a device which has a higher 'power out' than 'power in' they would be a nobel prize winner and become a billionairre over night-.-
I think if these guys want free(technically cheap i guess) energy they should just hook up an exercycle to a generator and a big battery and there you go, you've got free energy, a good work out and you're helping the environment : ).
Lol. Cant quite set them straight can you. I think we should focus on improving our solar panels to better collect the sun rays. So Mr. D what is your solution to the worlds energy crisis. One that might be within reason. Not everyone can be happy with no electricity.
"So Mr. D what is your solution to the worlds energy crisis."
1) Have much fewer people in the world.
2) Have much less manufacturing of crap nobody actually needs: this means adults must grow up and only purchase what they need, not what they want at the moment.
3) Ban the production of plastic except for when necessary in technologies that absolutely require it.
4) Ban superfluous lighting such as one sees in Las Vegas, Nevada.
A big step would be addressing lighting. incandescent lamps suck power (15 lumens/watt) and burn out after 1000 or so hours. CFL, LED, plasma are all legit options.
if his machine worked like he claims then he should be able to unplug the external power and have it feed into itself, but he won't because it is a load of BS
I get the same kind of relief when I debate my local nuts here in Utah. All the DNA in the America's is not enough to convince a mormon that they believe in a fiction. But I always feel better after taking them to task anyway.

it's not obvious because it's a load of shit. when you claim that something can *NEVER* happen in a system, you are inherently claiming that you know everything about component behaviors of said system.
why keep repeating the idea that magnetic fields contain no energy? i've made no comments supporting or refuting such ideas. my point was that it is quite arrogant (and equally ignorant) to claim that something can *NEVER* (or will *ALWAYS*) happen. your replies are often off-target.

You there is no such thing as "free energy".

Desertphile,
I agree that the leftside must equal the right side of the energy equation. I must admit I am skeptic of these "magnetic perpetual machine folks, because thare is no such thing. However, if we consider the lost of inherent magnetism of the magnets involved, that would be a conversion of potential energy into kenetic. What values involved? You guess is better than mine. Loss of magnetisim of the 'permenant' magnets is a '-' energy that could go toward maintaining motion.
misc029a 3 years ago
"However, if we consider the lost of inherent magnetism of the magnets involved, that would be a conversion of potential energy into kenetic."
Part One: Howdy! Magnetism is a physical phenomenon, (electromagnetism), i.e., one of the four forces. Everything that contain electrons have magnetic fields, but in most objects the electric charges cancel each other out because electron spin is randomly distributed: in ferrous metals that is not the case, and the electrons spin in the same direction.
Desertphile 3 years ago
Part Two: Magnetic fields "wear out" because the electrons slowly drift from alignment to non-alignment over the span of a great many years. It is not a loss of "energy" that causes a magnet's field to degrease: it's a loss of electron alignment. One way to cause a magnet to lose its magnetic field is to heat the magnet red hot: that jumbles the alignment of the electrons, randomizing alignment.
Desertphile 3 years ago
Part I: I do not know about the cause of magnetism. However, I believe that the fact the the electrons are not randomised in a magnetic object (as you stated) would indicate that some Potential Energy is contained in the object. The release of that energy would lower the "Power" or "Force" of the overall magnetic field of the object.
misc029a 3 years ago
Part II: This could be demonstrated by thinking of "Height" as a potential engery when gravity is involved the same way as magnetic force is an attractant or a repellent where other magnetic fields or magnetically sensitive objects are involved. HOWEVER, these "magnetic motors" do seem to be a hoax at this time. People should remember that ALL electric motors are "magnetic" whether they use permanent magnets or electrically induced ones...
(I wonder how many people read this whole thing.)

Desertphile 3 years ago
Alright dumb-bo. At one time you might have known some things but are now out of practice. The extra energy comes from the stored energy or magnetic force emitted from the magnets. If you factor in the repulsion energy from the magnets you will see that there is no magic going on. A person can really put in a small about of energy and get out more (because the repulsion forces are making up the difference).
ptatom 3 years ago
"The extra energy comes from the stored energy or magnetic force emitted from the magnets"
No.
Desertphile 3 years ago
"No." That's it? Yes! There is no magic. The energy is in the form of a waves with the strength being inversely related to the square of the distance from the magnet. When the magnetic field comes in contact with, say, an electron rich coil of wire, those waves bump electrons from the coil causing a cascade of electrons in motion...i.e. current.
ptatom 3 years ago
""No." That's it? Yes! There is no magic. The energy is in the form of a waves with the strength being inversely related to the square of the distance from the magnet."
Yes, the correct answer to your false statement is "No." Magnetic fields do not contain energy.

I know more energy goes into a wind mill than comes out but isn't wind free and virtually inexhaustable?
mejc2 3 years ago
'we have more free steam'
I pretty sure that Iceland holds that title.
'more energy goes into a wind mill'
Nope. If that were true they wouldn't make them. The energy payback is probably less than three years. The reason wind, hydro and solar are not free is because they take time to pay off. You cannot plug into them without up front costs. The reason we don't have a billion of them is because everyone would bitch if they had to pay more on their bill aka shortsightedness.
theoriginalSkooby 3 years ago 2
"You cannot plug into them without up front costs."
That is very well-said. Some time soon I hope to make a video on the subject. Solar power, wind power, water power--- they are all extremely expensive. Hell, maybe I can do a "quickie" video on the subject....
Desertphile 3 years ago
"Why does an oil company hold the patents on the EV1 Battery design that is just wrong."
You are right--- it is not criminal for Big Money to suppress the opposition, but some times I think it ought to be. The chief problem with power from wind, sun, water, alcohol, and steam is that it costs a large bundle of money; it can be a decade or longer before it all pays for itself in savings compared to oil, after which time it must all be replaced due to wear and tear. A video shall I make!

dechha1981 3 years ago

Where's the flaw in this?
philip1201 3 years ago
"Where's the flaw in this?"
Also, the energy collected from such a device would be infinitesimal.
smaakjeks 3 years ago
So where does the energy in the hydogen bonds come from? Will it get colder?
And the amount of energy does not matter: any positive number is illegal, no matter how small.
philip1201 3 years ago
"So where does the energy in the hydogen bonds come from? Will it get colder?"
They come from the energy needed to fuse hydrogen particles with atomic oxygen. Heat would not be lost, no.
"And the amount of energy does not matter: any positive number is illegal, no matter how small."
This would not create energy. It would only take advantage of it. WE get more energy. The universe does not. But now that I think again, I guess the water would just cling to the top of the straw, and not drip off.
smaakjeks 3 years ago
But hydrolysis REQUIRES energy, and H2+O -> H20 is an exotermic process.
oh...
philip1201 3 years ago
"But hydrolysis REQUIRES energy"
H2+O -> H20 is not hydrolysis. Hydrolysis is a process whereupon substances get water molecules added (to break these substances down). I'm assuming that our water comes from supernovas, where H+ can be found and bonded with. But I don't know this.
"and H2+O -> H20 is an exotermic process."
Okay, but what is your point? I thought you asked if exploiting hydrogen bonds will make the system lose heat. We are assuming that water is already there, right?
smaakjeks 3 years ago
What do you call water splitting into H2 and O? Because that's what i meant.
Hydrogen-oxygen bonds are low-energy, that's why it requires energy to break them.
philip1201 3 years ago
"What do you call water splitting into H2 and O? Because that's what i meant."
Water can be split by means of electrolysis.
smaakjeks 3 years ago
thanks.
But the energy from the adhesion comes from what? Not the bonds between H and O because those REQUIRE energy to break.
philip1201 3 years ago
"But the energy from the adhesion comes from what? Not the bonds between H and O because those REQUIRE energy to break."
Hydrogen bonds. We're not breaking up H+ and O when water adheres to a surface. It's still water, but water is a dipole, and the molecules of the straw are electrically charged, either positive or negative. I suggest you look up adhesion and cohesion in wikipedia for more details.
smaakjeks 3 years ago
Thanks.
