what does it do when you put a period in front of the equals sign in PHP?

@divac7777 - Appends to, or adds to the values existing in that variable already. We do that so we can append all the XML body into that one variable called $xmlBody. It adds to value existing in the variable instead of overwriting. Without it you would lose the other values added first.
