On the first listen, i kindof thought this is the long lost music i've been looking for for a long long time somewhere deep down in my head. And i just can't stop listening...can't stop listening.
@mrwibbles1... Same boat, and I agree. He's probably one of the best artist I've heard period... He's a wizard it seems at simplicity. He says a lot with very few words, and his musicality is just as powerful as his lyricism, I know I've listened to at least 13 songs of his this first few hours of finding him. Find 'Chinese Translation' if you haven't by now, and watch the video. With that said I pray that you are a Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds fan... ???
Strange how I have always been in the know about who is really worth paying attention to, but somehow M Ward escaped my notice. I loved stuff where he played a part, like Howe Gelb's Arizona Amp and Alternator, but it was only a few months ago that I actually discovered that M Ward is probably one of the best songwriters out there.
Dude, this song reminds me so much of this winter when I got this album along with a bunch of bright eyes stuff. It was a time when i was really thinking about a lot about all the shit that was goin on in my life and whenever i hear this song it always takes me back to then. Same thing with the entire Post-war album, only that reminds me of the summer. M. Ward is honestly one of the best musicians out there today.
this guy sounds much better live than in studio recordings. he opened up for norah jones in 2007, and although she is my favorite artist, he arguably put on a better show.
well, he uses a bunch of late sixty's/early seventy's music as inspiration in this album (the same way he used early to mid fifty's music as inspiration for "Post War"), so you'll hear a lot of John Lennon and Bob Dylan in it.
I heard this for the first time today on WWUH's ambience show! I love it! I heard of M. Ward before from an NPR show, but I never heard any tunes until today! Such a dreamy tune. Love the words!
The footage is of the aerial tram in Portland, Oregon. It connects the Oregon Health Sciences University campus to the South Waterfront Development District below. It's a great ride when it isn't packed!
I love the solo albums of Mr. Ward. Now this new song is so promising, showing how inventive a guy can be even when he´s diving into the past. It´s a breathtaking song, ethereal singing, great treatment of strings - and a fantastic black-and-white-video. Gorgeous, indeed!!!
Listen to some more music and then make comparisons... No one sounds like Coldplay anyway. Coldplay just sounds like everyone else... or tries too at least...
M. Ward did an awesome job of making the Portland Tram look like it is out of some dystopian film made in the 60's based on a book written in the 30's. beautiful.
On the first listen, i kindof thought this is the long lost music i've been looking for for a long long time somewhere deep down in my head. And i just can't stop listening...can't stop listening.

M. Ward's music is so beautiful. It's like he picked thru my brain and discovered what kind of music I love and then wrote it down. It's perfect.
And the last line just speaks to me for some reason. "I wrote this song just to remember the endless summer in your laugh."
It's just perfect.
Okay I'll stop gushing. :)

Timeless! and grounded; M.'s compositions laces through forgotten dna ~ tying things up sweetly by leaving things Wide Open.
I thank him, with a smile, also, for tying himself to the lyrics a bit thou i hope he always sings with the moment as does so beautifully.
