  • Do they make this model with a white dial?

  • The logo on back is off because it's screwed down into the case.

  • hey man for those small scratches try some "Cape Cod" metal polish. Its a great mld polish for small hairline scratches...

  • The etched 'B' on the bezel is there for counterfeting, because and you will probelly know you can take your bezel off and change it to a diamond one, or a gold one etc. Any part of the wristwatch you can take off on a Breitling will ne marked by them like the backcase, straps, dial, crown and bezel. I currently owned the Steelfish in a Blue dial, great watches.

  • The best watch I've ever owned.

  • The etched 'B' on the bezel is there to guard against counterfeiting. As you mentioned, some fakes do have it. Typically, though, only the better fakes include it, meaning a lot of lousy ones get screened out. Also, even on the better ones, it's usually of lower quality than the real thing, enabling studious fake spotters a better chance of catching bogus ones.

You've got a great watch there, one that I think will be considered a classic in years to come. Pity it's been discontinued.

  • Very nice Breitling, thanks for your thoughts on this beautiful timpiece. I purchased the Seawolf a few months back, also very nice. Im now saving up for Super Avenger, might be a little to big though, lol.

  • It's a watch, they are meant to be worn and used. I don't think anybody notices those hairline scratches from a normal viewing distance anyway. As long as you are careful, it will look "new."

  • Nice... I couldn't decide whether to get the Steelfish or the Chrono SuperOcean, went for the latter in the end, purely because of the extra complications. I wear this or a Panerai every day and they inevitably get scratched but like you say: 'what're you gonna do?' Beautiful watch. What will be your next purchase?

  • how much iss this nice looking watch, in US $?

  • @bigdogITbiker Retail is $2945. You can get them anywhere between 2,000 or 2,500

  • The caseback is rounded like that to minimize contact with your wrist for diving. The more the caseback touches your wrist the more possible for irritation having it rounded allows for air to pass through and minimize irritation while wet.

  • I got the Omega Seasmaster and its a beautiful watch! And I am looking to buy a Breitling Superocean Steelfish because it too is mezmerizing! The one I am looking to buy is from the fall of 2006. Its almost just the same but with some minor changes apparently. Anyways, good clip! If you got anymore I would like to see! And its a beautiful watch you have! Hopefully I'll get mine soon enough!

  • I suspect the caseback is screwed in to a specific torque setting rather than to it's alignment with respect to the case. I own this watch and the "top" of the caseback is pointing almost directly at the crown. Scratching is unfortunately unavoidable, but this is one tough watch built to take a beating. If you do send it back to Breitling for service, they re-polish and re-brush the various surfaces and the watch comes back looking almost new.

  • is this the 2008+ model with the 44mm diameter?

  • @worst187

To my knowledge the x-plus version was only produced for about a year. Early versions had a square near the end of the second hand with a circle of lume in it. later versions switched to the arrow. At the beginning of the next model year they simply dropped the x-plus designation and it became known as the superocean steelfish. Aside from the name change the watch remained identical.

  • @hansirui You have it right, but backwards. The Superocean Steelfish was only produced for 1 year and measures at 42mm. In 2007 the X-plus, the version in the vid, was released and is currently the only model you can purchase at 44.5mm.

  • @worst187 Yes. It's the current version.
