  • on speed lol

  • Too fast!

  • The pronunciation is killing me..

There is virtually no open sound. It's kinda flat.

    Sorry.. ):

  • were doing this song in my highschool chamber choir, except for we havent gotten to that speed yet, good job!

  • HOLy CRAP! Salmo on SPEED

  • This is really good. It's a bit too fast and the vowels are a bit bright. But I got to hand it to the tenors for those super fast magnitudinis eius. Basses sounded really great too. :]

  • too fast

  • you did great except the end...you should have slowed it down a tad bit because you couldn't tell that they were saying laudate dominom at the end...only reason i knew is because my choir is doing this

  • SUPER props to the tenors in that "magnitudinis eius" part!!!

  • I don't really like the tone you guys have, and I think your director took it way too fast. Those tenors were pretty beast at saying "magnitudinis eius" though.

  • i dont think it sounds good fast like that even though thats what the original is supposed to be like. it sounds rushed and it doesnt make it at all powerful in any sense. check out the "valiant voices: salmo 150." this is like the perfect tempo.

  • Blessing ; very nice and full song. Wonderful dyanics and diction.

Wishes; i personally think it would better if they covered their voices more and lifted their pallete. other than that. i very much enjoyed it.

  • People are really mean on youtube. You'd think they would have better things to do then critique high school choirs on how they sing

  • I think you took the fast a little too much, it's supposed to be about 1:30 song.

The second time through the repeat (at 2:26) the "laudate eum" sounded like a child's choir, all the other times it was better. Also, all the 'r's were very back in the throat and 'arrrrrrrrrr'ish.

The song is an angry kind of a song, but all the singers look like they're afraid of the director swinging his arms.

I still applaude your tenors for being able to get out "magnitudinis eius" like that.

  • ours is like a punk cover, no b.s. just awesomeness

  • Wow... we're working on that song now, but I don't think we could ever sing it that fast and not sound like poop. Good job

  • same here hahah...the jubilate onis part is really hard to get at normal speed...imagine what it would be like that fast! :/

  • too fast.. 0_o"

  • good job being a high school choir and performing this..it isn't easy and yeah it could have been a BIT slower...but overall it was done very nicely...it's suppose to be fast :) nice job

  • Copper, rofl, trust me, thats the arrangers speed not the choirs.

  • way way way way way wya way too fast......you need to think of a stroll in the park not a train derailing. and taller vowels, but i think it was more of an issue of speed more than bad vowels....slow it down

  • they are performing it that fast because that is how its supposed to be preformed. my all state choir did it this fast and boy was it fun!

  • good choir but way to fast, sounds like they'er running a marathon.

  • too fast. i can't believe you got those words out. rounder vowels basses. i am sooooo impressed you got all these words in! good feel too

  • Holy Crap!!!

    This is seriously shitty.

    :(

    Slow it down!

  • Wonderfully sung. 0:11 and 0:32 were your one flaw: you see, the second "tu-di-nis" was suppose to be a triplet, which the tempo made impossible. Other than that one part, you guys handled that ridiculously fast tempo perfectly.

  • In my score it's not a triplet, just three eighth notes.

  • WONDERFUL blend- this song usually consists of loud/sharp sopranos (this coming from a soprano). All of the ones I have watched have sopranos who are really overbearing and sharp. Nice job! And crazy fast- wow!

  • Wow!!! That was really fast, but you did it beautifully. This is one of the best-quality renditions I've heard.

  • i think they handled it alright, i am singing it with my chamber choir next week for state festival and we take it fast but not that fast that was a little out of control.

  • I could NOT dot heir last Lau Dau te part... that was REDICULOUS. Our choir's good... But at this tempo I think we'd fall apart.

  • Watch your vowels (make sure not to spread them too much)... But overall a good performance!

  • Ernani Aguiar is one of the great brazilian composers!!

  • Uhh... A little too fast... I know it's suppossed to be fast... but seriously... It felt rushed...

  • great job guys!

  • WOW The Speed Was Great.

  • This song is suppose to be really fast we are doing it in my choir the words are really hard to do specially the tenor part they have it the worst. This song is amazing tho and i love it.

  • very good. but a little too wide of vowels

  • I agree. This is maybe 5 bpm too fast. Congrats on doing it, though! That is VERY difficult. We did it in a trio, and we could only dream of having it this speed!

    Erica

  • this is not supposed to be this fast

  • Damn I dont like how they put no Latin Accents at all.

    Sounds to White

  • Good Job .... a little fast for my taste i feel bad 4 the basses and altos who have to say that one really tricky word... and everyone at the end i <3 this song...we're doing it for our concert tuesday

  • this song is CRAZY HARD. I cannot criticize them. :)

  • (1) It is way too fast and i cant appreciate the beauty in each line because of it nor the text. (2) It doesnt matter if your vernacular language is deutch and you have to sing french, you have to always make the text as clear as possible. You never know if someone who speaks this language hears it and feels offended. (3)The men are sounding a little nasal and it makes the tone a little shaky and uneven.

Para un coro de escuela superior el sonido es muy bueno, enhorabuena! ^_^

  • 1. Salmo 150 is meant to be sung in this speed. Go find an original script and run it in a metronome.

  • was this church in pacedina because my highschool musicale is performed there

  • que graciosa ponunciacion

  • This version sounds faster than it is possible for the choir to articulate. I know what you're saying because I've sung alto on the SATB version and the SSA version of this piece, otherwise I'd have no hope. Also, the end just sounds like a blur with no discernable rhythm.

That said, I know the choir didn't choose the temo, and for this tempo, you stay together AMAZINGLY well with all those dotted rhythms. You sing this piece confidently as if you own it, which is how it must be sung.

  • It's too fast, but it's the best one I have found, so far. Everyone else mispronounces the words or "Le-ah" instead of "Lah"; so good job. =]

  • Wow...y'all are really hard core. I've been looking all over youtube and this is one of the best performances i could find. There are mistakes made - but it's a grade 6 song for crying out loud! Overall, it's pretty well performed, especially for that speed. I think y'all did a good job. Thanks for posting it.

  • they are singing it to fast the tempo is alot slower

  • Sometimes, when I get frustrated, I yell "LAUDATE DOMINUM" as fast and as loud as possible until I'm out of air.

  • i would like to point out that CHS chamber singers have about 4 major shows a year (with a couple of minor shows in between): choral pop nights, winter concert, concert musical, and spring concert. it gives them roughly 2 months to get ready for a concert, with a huge repertoire of music. lay off the negative comments, most high school have only 2 major shows a year giving them A LOT more time to work on their concerts. these guys are a lot better than some of the choirs i have heard...

  • Não está bom... muito rápido... meu professor (o compositor e maestro Ernani Aguiar, autor dessa música) nunca imaginou essa música nessa velocidade.

It´s not good... very fast... my teacher (the composer and maestro Ernani Aguiar) never imagine his music in this velocity

  • if you are a music composer, why are you wasting time criticizing a perfectly sound high school choir? shouldn't you be working on writing a masterpiece?

  • you wrong... I like it but is too fast

  • the boys sounds lazy...

  • .... the girls are good but the boys... they pronounce the word wrong... they stlye are not good.. they sounds dead

  • I bet most of you never heard a choir this good and are intensely jealous. And I'm also betting that a lot of you don't realize some songs are supposed to sound nasal, as well some people have naturally nasal voices....hmmm, bet you didn't think of that one did you.....yeah

  • this sounds amazing!

my highschool choir sang this song this year.. you blow us out of the water!

and what's freaky, is that we have the same women's dresses!

  • sounds super nasal and speak-singing instead of dropping the jaw to make it sound more interesting

  • the altos overpowered the sopranos

  • yeah ALTOS! they were amazing!

  • I love the people that leave comments on this giving all their criticisms and negative comments. They never cease to amaze me. (Especially the ones claiming to be Music Professors and such) hahahaha.

  • LOOOOVEEE IT!!!! just want to remind everyone that this was a HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR!!!! and...they didnt have THAT long to learn the piece....

anyway! i LOVE Claremont High Scholl Chamber Singers!!! :)

    amaazing! i was there! :)

come see CHS's next concert...its coming up :)

  • We're working on this in my choir right now.

    Lovely song!

    Your tempo is intensely fast.

Not sure if I like it or not.

Either way, you did well =3

  • dude that is way to fast for me! I mean wat the hell are you saying? my choruos is singing this right now and its fast but thats like light speed...For it being so fast I think it took away from the piece...

  • extremely too fast. Slow it down and get the pronunciation right...Latin is a no brainer, but it still must be CORRECT

  • THE GUY WHO POSTED THIS VIDEO SUCKS!!!

  • What's up with this comment, do you even know me?!?

  • you suck

  • it would sound better if they slowed down a lot. you can hardly hear the pronounciation in the words. it all sounds blended together

  • this choir needs to work on their tone...

  • agreed, somewhat nasal

  • 1:09 the pronunciation is off and too rushed,

which the director (from the random arm i could see...) did not bring about

I know how hard of a piece this is, but compared to my high school's chamber singers that did this a few years ago, that fast, it just pales in comparason. No offense, hopefully, need be taken, for i am stating what i hear, ne?

also folkhippie500 is right, pronunciation is KEY to singing foreign pieces. As Mr. Lin always states.

In case you were wondering I'm from Atherton

  • Excellent....love it....The others posted don't come close to you guys.. And you are the only choir apparently brave or thoughful enough to actually give the name of the COMPOSER.....Hello?!

  • are you kidding me? they have bad pronunciation in the latin. Also, they were not prepared to do the song this fast. At times it just sounds so sloppy. They sound like a high school choir. Nothing to be proud of.

  • First of all, WE ARE A HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR! So we do our best and apparently, people seem to like it, so there's something to be proud of...

And Second of all, I don't know if you noticed, but English is VERY different from Latin. I would like to see you singing an Italian or Spanish song, or even worse, a Japanese song. Pronunciation is not something to be taken into account when you deal with such different languages.

  • i am a choir professor. pronunciation is one of THE most important elements in a piece of music. you WERE NOT ready to perform this. it was unspeakably rushed and ahead of tempo. try working on it more and i'm sure you could pull it off!

  • Just for your information, the idea of our director was to rush the song to give it a different flavour to it, even if it got a little sloppy. It's definitely much better than doing it slow and draging the notes! This was a year ago, this song is not performed anymore, but we've gotten pretty good comments, so there must me something people liked about it.

It's just our version, if you don't like it, it's okay, but I'd like to hear you singing in Spanish since I'm from Argentina...

  • Excellent....love it....The others posted don't come close to you guys.. And you are the only choir apparently brave or thoughful enough to actually give the name of the COMPOSER.....Hello?!

  • this is an amazing song! our choir sings it too...in the same arrangement but slightly slower... love both though great job!

  • There's something I don't like about this, but I can't quite pick it out. Maybe too nasal or not very rich sounding. Other than that, it was pretty good. Our choir is doing this for festival. We could never do it that fast.

  • Sounds clean, not draggy. The sop sound flat when they are singing alone. Sop has less richer vowel maybe its due to a all girl sop

  • Bad Voice Flat Bass and Tenor

  • idk what you are talking about...this is on pitch perfectly

  • I performed this with choir at my high school and we did it at this speed, but the diction needs work. The pitches were very good though.

  • this is tooooooo fast.....

  • Vowels...to flat.

otehr than that, it;s not bad.

  • I think they went too fast. >_>

The latin words sound kind of funny with their accents, but no matter.

  • i hope everyone knows this is a HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR.....and this is filmed on a mediocre camera...sooo, you people who feel like criticizing should just shut the eff up....

  • I sang this my sophomore year in high school as a high school choir, and we were still able to get a richer sound. And just because they're young doesn't mean they can't improve - I'm now a senior in high school, and the choirs that I've sung in often do sound like college choirs because we constantly gear toward improvement and beating the handicap of youth. What's the point of comments without constructive criticism?

  • I think the sound really could be much fuller and darker, since right now it feels belted and unsupported. Also, I personally think there should be more variation in tempo, rather than ubiquitously fast - the words get mushed a little bit, and a slight rallentando would probably correct that.

And yes, I have done this song in choir, so I'm not just commenting without knowledge.

  • I'm in the same boat as you. Belton-Honea Path High School Chamber Choir, who was second in the state of South Carolina at State Choral Competition, has performed this piece for the past six or so years. We used it at SCC and the judges loved it...I have great ensight to this piece. It is very rushed. I like my songs like I like my cars...hot and fast. But, sppeding can be deadly. The last page of the song suffered because of the tempo.

  • I had more!!!

Your tone is very...bright! Try to darken it up by "elongating the face." Make all of lah's LOH! It gives a nice rich depth to the tone. Use your dynamics! You obviously have them!(noted at seconds 23-25, 32-33, and 57-59!!!) This piece is so beautiful if you use your "subtle nuances" as my band director says.

  • ...and a little more!

You guys have it...milk this song for every ounce of beauty you can get from it. The whole piece needs more support...not volume...support! Entrances are a little askew and some words are mispronunciated...but those can be fixed with detication and hard agonizing work!!! That's what choir takes!!!

  • you still sound like a dumbass. better luck next time. BOOYA!!!!!

  • the choir's sound is not full enough...the choir sounds as though they are speaking rather than singing...pls refer to the philippine chamber singers version for reference...

  • The Philippine choir, while exhibiting better support, doesn't have terribly good vowel shapes, as a whole.

  • wow this is great

  • I love how everybody is sooooo critical on youtube of every video esp singing ones. Everybody feels like they're on expert on here when they probably couldn't even do it. lol

  • if this song is sung too slow, it feels like it drags. i think the tempo is pretty good. the end is a little sloppy though...:)

  • its a nice blending u have there =). but its a quite shallow and uninspired singing. try breathing deeper and thinking more of the nuiances rather than just notes. =)

  • one of my favorite songs ever but i think you guys did it a bit too fast...

  • this sucks

  • ah, i'm pumped. haha my choir's singing this for our winter concert. it's an exciting song. =]

  • a little too fast!

  • U Guys are the best!!!!

  • GO CHAMBER SINGERS!!
