You just create a new folder in main folder on the phone. Name it music (dunno if that is necessary, but i did that) and put music in it... The phone will automaticly find the music and display it in the media player
We need a way to set our own ringtones...like seriously im about to cry bc we cant use are own ringtones sprint needs to fix it..and the ringtones on the phone are boody..ahh someone help me with the subject plz.....
so far the Hero seems to be everything that i am looking for in a phone, but one big question i have that nobody has addressed: is it capable of streaming music to a bluetooth headset?
That function is called A2DP and since the specification on the official HTC page say it supports Bluetooth® 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate and A2DP for wireless stereo headsets, the answer to your question is: Yes, it is.
1) You can create your own ringtones and notifications by recording your voice using the phone. You can then edit those ringtones or any Mp3 on your SD card using RingDroid which is a free app in the market. Edited mp3s can be used as notifications and ringtones.
2) you can change the color of the LED for incoming emails or notifications using a number of apps in the market. I use Handcent for text messaging which absolutely rocks and I use Buddymob for IM. Android Rocks!
which is better "iphone 3gs or htc hero???" thatz a tough one....oh and what kind of cool apps can u get on this phone? you should make a video of all this...plz!
Can you 'lock' the 7 homescreens? Should be quite sh*tty if I give this phone to a friend of mine and he tunes al my 7 homescreens with different widgets / different sized widgets and so on? =s
What do you mean by "make your own"? Like record your voice, etc and use that as the ring tone? (If so then yes.) If you mean edit songs/mp3s on the device... I really don't know but I don't' think so. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.
make it ur own means the home screens are fully customizable the way you want. Basically means you can put widgets everywhere. And as for mp3 editing its capable but only if someone makes and app for it.
One thing i noticed by looking at these videos... there are lots of missed screenpresses. Im not sure if its the the dude handeling the phone thats clumsy or not. If not then the screen/os doesnt look as responsive as the Iphone. I have tried Android on my Touch HD and you need to press it "the right way" in some menues for it to respond. I guess it will be optimized further.
Thanks again for providing the most comprehensive review of this device on you tube (probably the Internet as well). I think I'm likely to buy this. Video recording, screen size and storage would be a compromise compared to other devices (*cough* iPhone *cough*), but I think that's an acceptable price to pay for true customization and an open ecosystem. Keep up the good work.
any problems with the handset so far? phone freezing? random reboots or anything that stands out? Looks awesome so far, but the phone could be just a little bit faster then it would be PERFECT
I'm still curious to see how it copes with more demanding flash content (specifically iplayer) though and i'm also interested to see how the facebook experience is integrated? i understand you can check up on a friends facebook activities through the contacts list but does it offer any further integration e.g. Will it provide notifications of comments, event invites etc... is there a facebook widget for the home screens?
Wow, didn't expect to see this at 4am! I have to say i'm really impressed with the fluidity of the interface, it seems remarkably more smooth than the existing htc android handsets which contain the same processor and almost the same ram. I hope someone gives HTC's software team a pat on the back!
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im getting mine today but the new one!

plenty of apps on the android store that allow you to do this!
specifically seach for "tonepicker" on the app store
It allows you to pick every peep buzz and ring for your android phone.
Great app.
Will solve your problem.

You can use songs as your phone ringtone.
1. In the Library, select the song that you want to use as ringtone and then play
it back.
2. In the Playback screen, press MENU and then tap Set as ringtone.
3. In the Set as ringtone options menu, tap Phone ringtone or Contact

well .. i know nothing about that but ..
you can just save it as a scene and when your friend "tunes all your 7 home screens" you can just load it again :)

Do you have coverflow or lyrics when you listen to music?

Thanks for a great demonstration!
I have a couple of questions about the software:
Can you teach the dictionary new words? If you are frequently using words that are not in its standard dictionary?
Also, are there any way to quickly mute the phone if it is doing something with sound (e.g. playing music or video)?
