I use to ride a big ol' bay mare named Babe up until I was 8 months pregnant and had my 16 month old daughter sitting in front of me! My mother-in-law was appalled. Ahh, my EX mother inlaw that is... LoL! ;)
@horsesforever28 Same here and they are. Depends on what kind of horse you use. I had a Dutch Warmblooded horse and some idiot threw a whole pack of fireworks under her. She didn't even blink. I turned her around and followed the idiot until he disappeared in a building.
@horsesforever28 Yeah and? That doesn't mean our horse can't be bomb proof as there are so many more. Can't help it her horse wasn't bomb proof. And stop screaming, you're making a fool or yourself.
@horsesforever28 If you had fire works UNDER your horse, and I´m talking about heavy fireworks, and it doesn´t run IT´S BOMB PROOF. Go go play with your dolls.
@horsesforever28 That´s too bad for your friend then and really sad too she never experienced a well trained horse. And yes, there bomb proof horses. MINE WAS!!
lol my nephew LOVES to ride with me. he actually throws a fit if he sees me on my gelding without him! I know my horse and the situations that we are normaly in (riding around a field, along the side of the road) that I feel safe with him with me. I love my nephew with all my heart and would never put him in a dangerous situation, don't you think this rider feels the same way about this baby?
There is absolutly nothing wrong with this video i have 3 kids...my oldest being 3...all were on horses as soon as they could hold their heads by themselves...I even had them on a spirited arab...its all about how well you know your horse...
oh dear goodness... by two I was barrel racing. my parents didn't ride. guess how I learned... oh you've got it. say it. SAY IT! By myself. :) 21 now, still racing :D
May I point out that if these horses had these apparent horrible 'issues' you are all crying about, they wouldn't be in that arena to begin with, and likely, the man wouldn't be riding with -his- child, in a carefree manner. It is a public event, they don't stick untrustworthy animals in that kind of environment, not that kind that would go suddenly crazy, start running a muck, and -somehow- bump into this ONE particular animal, and cause the baby to fall to a tragic death. Get over yourselves.
I am a ridder and I have been since age 4 , and that is not safe even if he trust his horse bcuz other horses may not be as trustworthy and something may spook the horse it's dangerous but clearly the baby didn't get hurt that time so let's keep The peace Mmmmm k
@katchkittie I know more than you probably do. It has nothing to do with his connection with his horse. He has no clue what issues the other horses in that arena may have.
I would do the same with my own child on my horse, but NEVER around a bunch of people and horses I didn't know. You are demonstrating how ignorant you are of how unpredictable horses can be.
@dosthepost Lol. Don't tell me you can't handle the word shit. Something that's been said about every second in the states. Hypocrites. You don't want an argument because I'm right.
At the Bronx Zoo, a mother wanted a picture with her newborn as the father was taking the photo, a tree branch above her fell and killed her 4 month old baby. The tree was recently pruned and well maintained before the incident. It turns out, this type of tree drops limbs when a certain degree of humidity is in the air.
You simply need to know how your horse will react. I have taken my nieces and nephew on horses when they were just babies. When they could sit they were in the saddle being lead with someone ready to catch them if they lost balance. They have never had a problem.
Aww what a good daddy. I don't think it is reckless. It was controlled, the horse was obviously calm and many parents do that. When I was 1, I rode my first horse, alone, with just someone leading and walking beside to catch me if I needed it. I'm still here! If the horse is good, there is no problem letting a child ride with or without you!
Good for that daddy showing off his baby!! I remember the days where you got to ride in your parents lap and pretend to drive down your street. WTF!!!!!
And to all the rude commenters, is it your horse? Do you know how he's going to react? No. It's probably the family horse. Probably extremely well-trained. How often does your horse spook when you go into the arena? Mine never does. Because he's used to it. So really, it wasn't reckless. Just family fun. That's how my riding career started, and I'm still alive. (:
@AliasRaven My horse is very well trained. Is bomb proof. But it's still a horse and you never know IF something will spook him after all. That's when the accidents happen, because you trust them too much.
Eugh, seeing that, the thing I imagine is not falling, but the horse spooking and the baby being seriously injured internally by the horn, and if the person behind goes forward too, with the baby between...Eugh.
years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand
Eh.. it depends on a lot of factors how stupid this really is or isn't. I have my daughter ride with me -- I nearly always have someone beside me on foot to grab her if need be. I also know how to fall, which can make all the difference in the world when it comes to landing safely 'over' someone, controlling their descent as well as your own. If he has that much faith in his mount and in himself, power to him; I personally don't have that much faith in my mount, as much as I love him.
My gosh...are you people done making stupid comments? You'll are rediculous...It doesnt say...isnt this stupid? its none of your business. Stupid or not. get over yourself.
That was really stupid. What if the horse spooks? An adult could take care of themselves and save themselves but a Baby? Just falling off the horse wrong could kill the baby! That is plain stupid!
It was an inappropriate venue to let a child on like that. It has nothing to do with his skill or how trustworthy that particular horse is,,, it has to do with all the other folks around there that were NOT being as careful. It's fine to take a kid for a ride, but not in a public venue, that's NOT safe. He was just showing off and letting her be 'cute'. He's an attention hound.
I agree. There are too many factors that can influence that horse and put the child in danger. Realistically, if the horse on the lunge or any of the others did something stupid enough to spook the mans horse,, how proud would he be of himself then with an injured child? I dont understand hoosiers. It doesnt matter how 'bomb proof' the horse is- its still an animals and its still unsafe. Stupid stupid stupid.
I wouldn't do it with my babies when they're quite that young, but the horse was dead quiet. It might have been good to have a person walking near enough to grab the horse in the very slight chance something happened. But it sure was a cute video.
I did that when I was a baby too. My aunt used to always take me riding like that, and we would go galloping around. When I was a baby.
Everyone has to stop thinking about the "what ifs." That horse, if you were watching, pays no attention to any of the horses around him, and directs all of his attention to the man riding.
im sorry...but if i were the parent. i would make sure i trust my horse with more than my life and there would be no horses there. especially if i didnt know the horses...to me thats just stupid. and unsafe
He might consider his horse safe, but what about the other horses working in the arena. He cannot predict their behaviour or their riders ability to control it. Foolish.
So what if the other riders couldn't control there horses? How would it affect his horse? Good horses are trained to ignore distractions so even if every single one of those horses were galloping around his horse woulds till be loping along.
Even the most highly-trained veteran show horse will have a freak-out at some point in time...you can train a horse all you want, but at the end of the day it is still a wild animal at heart.
Yes once in a while, a highly trained horseman can feel when a horse is going to do something it shoulnd' there for he would have time to get the child off. Be that as it may, this is the same with a car. You may be an excellent driver but the other drivers on the road arn't as good, there is still a high risk of you crashing. i'am a western rider and it's complety save as long as u hold on to the child my family did that to me when i was 6 mnth to 2 years then i could ride on my own see it teaches u to ride
