I just uploaded a new video of my new african cichlid tank it would be awesome if i could get some views, also if u suscribe i will subscribe back, thanks:P
@Schofield131 Hey mate i used to ask the same question as you alot eveywhere i went but now i realise it doesnt matter how old really its when they are ready, I have a pair of these and they are only about 5-7cm long and i just seen them breed about 2 hours ago so its just when they are ready i realised doing a clean on your tank helps get them to breed as i only cleaned it yesterday and they breed today hope this helps :)
what age do these guys breed. i bought 2 today (not with the intention of breeding), but if it happens that would be lovely. mine are only maybe 1.5" and i think i have a male and a female. also if i ever wanted them to breed, is there anything special i need to do
@wolverine1865 The most successful way to get them to breed is to buy 2 females to every 1 male, the more female:male ratio the higher your chances are of having them breed. They breed when they are almost adults and the older they are or the bigger they are, the more babies they can carry. But they can have babies as early as four months old.
Hi , i Have 2 Yellow lab malawi cichlids that are holding eggs , i was wondering what the next steps would be . i Have a second tank just under 3ft that is set up and ready to hold fish/fry . please reply thanks .
@CoZzY619 You have to wait until the eggs have hatched into fry which should be around 3 weeks of the holding period and you should be able to see the fry swimming in the mouth if you look closely enough at that time. Then you can extract them from the females mouth by using your fingernail tip or a cotton swap. Or, you can just separate the female into the other tank at around 21/2-3 weeks and wait for her to release the fry on her own. When the babies are out, feed them crushed up flakes :)
i had 8or 12 in a10 gal .only to yellow labs, and i was luckey enugh to have a pair.mail died shortly after.i had many diferent breeds of cichlids some even from amricas with my africans. raised most of them from fry
i swear i had like 50 cichlids at one time once. it all started with 2 females and male :P had to raise half in a 2nd 50 galloon tank so that it wouldnt be too crowded.
Hey i have yellow labs too umm i need to ask sumthin one of my labs its mouth is sorta black or blue and it looks like its filled with somthing does that mean shes pregnant?? CCheck out my videos
She may be holding eggs, you will be able to tell after a week or two if she has fry in her mouth because her mouth will look like she can't keep it closed and she will tumble them constantly as if she was eating. If this is the case, you might be able to see them hatched in her mouth after she has been holding for 2 1/2-3 weeks.
hey azn926, look at her mouth closley when she is feeding, if you see little eye's she has fry in her mouth.. app. 18 days till she lets them free into the tank.. mine is almost ready to release her's
Yup, easy to breed and care for. My electric yellows bred easily years ago. The majority of the offspring survived as well.
