Yoruba, Oyo, and Ashanti had slave trade because they had direct contact with European Colonies...as opposed to the Empires on the eastern part of the continent which were rather hostile to Europe over religious differences and the whole Crusades thing.
Yoruba and Oyo eventually merged, and Ashanti was eventually colonized by Europeans.

This former indentured slave had an indentured slave of his own and when it was his time to be freed, he argued in court that Africa custom is to own people for life. The judge agreed that it was African custom and their culture had to be respected. He was the first slave-owner thereby. Multiculturalism began race slavery.

Yoruba, Oyo, and Ashanti had slave trade because they had direct contact with European Colonies...as opposed to the Empires on the eastern part of the continent which were rather hostile to Europe over religious differences and the whole Crusades thing.
Yoruba and Oyo eventually merged, and Ashanti was eventually colonized by Europeans.

The main slave trading countries of Europe were England, Portugal, Spain and the Netherlands. One thing that has appeared many times in ANY historical ACCOUNT about the African slave trade was that slavery was COMMON in Africa long BEFORE the Europeans arrived. Obviously not all of 'em are racist and nobody said they were. However, there definitely ARE a LOT of them (they tend to be southern Christian conservatives who have very low IQs and have very little interaction with people of color, which explains their xenophobia)

Without even doing the actual math, since we know roughly half of these hate crimes are done by whites, that's much much much less than 1% of the entire (white) population.

@1chamberlain1 just a clarification about how long ago slavery ended, it was only 147 years ago. Not to mention that you seem to be just about as far off when it comes to whites in America. I'm a white male and I'm fully aware that in this country that gives me a slight advantage. But that's the true difference between now and then, the degree of it. When Chris Rock's father grew up, his statement was much more true then, than it is today. But we still have a ways to go for true racial equality.

There are 'factory workers' in Indonesia, China, Taiwan, etc....some make 30c a day and others make 31c a day....Should the 30c a day worker be jealous? The American problem/issue of race is not white vs black its guilt vs responsibility. America, for all its flaws, as with EVERY nation in history, is in FACT the only nation to ever make amends for past wrongs in reference to slavery.
The truth, if you read the history of the American slave trade, was the cooperation of Spaniards and African tribesman to barter goods for captured tribesman from warring tribes.
