Guys, the rev limit is actually to stop you from breaking the engine.... If there was no limit you would floor it without noticing the engine just blowing up at one moment. For example take motocross. These engines they all have floored engines during the 5 second sign, means they are revving for 5 seconds, this was max 1.5-2 seconds here and you think it harmed anything? No, the engine still revved just fine.

@Aloke234 honda engines with vtec or i-vtec have forged internals from the factory for that purpose alone, and it's also why if you go into forced induction the stock internals can handle 8-10 psi with no problems, very well built and reliable engines that are meant to be beat on like this, not fantastic shifting, but everyone learns at one point lol.

However, keep in mind that F1 engine are 2.4L and produce that same amount of horsepower (AND they still have a lot of restrictions on air cooling, air intake, variable valve timing, fuel injectors, etc...) Yes i know i'm talking about a much much higher level of engineering.. but its just to show you that a good engineering is they key to a great engine, not only displacement.
