Anyone know what those finger grips that he uses are called? And does he use those instead of rubber inserts?? Or does he use them with the inserts? I've tried to google them but no luck.. Any info would help.. p.s. Wes is the MAN!
Wes makes the shark look way easier than it is. He is a beast. When he can play that straight and his ball can save all its energy for the pins (rather than using its energy trying to hook back to the pocket) he is hard to beat.
i would draw an imaginary line from where i wan't my ball to cross at the foul line to the arrows and get my ball to go through that line if i was looking at the foul line
I also bowl like Wes Malott. I just recently started using his target system and I find it a lot easier to hit my mark. I also started using his form and I have increased my rev rate to 400.
when i first started somebody recomended looking at the foul line to see when the ball was coming across so i would know when to put finger in the ball for hook and ive just stuck that way ever since even before i knew about wes mallot
Free plug for Roto Grip: I just picked up the Rogue Cell this week, and would recommend it to everyone! Rolled a sanctioned 746 (my career best), ball has dull surface and was drilled long and hard. All I can say is "Holy snappage batman!"
I use the same system when i try and get the ball further out, and not just playing a straight line. I have to do what he does on the shark, because i have a psycho rawhammer, and stupid me got a skid flip ball skid flipped. so it gets about 15- 20 boards if thrown over the 10 board
Wes is a great area bowler. He looks down at the dots in front of him to get the path of the ball moving in the right direction. In order for him to get the power that he does this is the style he uses. After all that is in place, all Wes has to do is hit his area. He is probably looking to get his baln in an area of about 2-3 boards at his break point. This allows him to have a little room for error being that he IS such a power player.
the thing about malott is that he has so much power buy not hitting the ball. he just rotates to get all of his power. if you look at him in 2005 in the banquet open you can tell he tries to hit it. not all he does is rotate the ball. this allows his ball to get to the end of the pattern and THEN hook. thats why he has so much power cuz the ball save so much energy
What the fuck is up with the audio? It's a delay repeat!

That is actually protective tape that Wes puts on his fingers. Both Turbo and Vise sell this tape.

I think malott is a good bowler but its just his delivery haha he looks lazy.
easyname702 2 years ago
That's the key with bowling, the more relaxed and simple your delivery is, the less work you have to do and the more consistent you are.
