Just a lil bit of info for you good people, MR SCOTT the bearded guy with the cigar is the author JEAN SHEPHERD.....if you recall he was in the movie Cristmas Story as the guy in line to see Santa who sent ralphie to the back of the line...the book is excellent too. I wish they made a tv show of this family, beats the hell outta crap on tv now!
He's so right--you never forget your first job. I got mine the summer I was 21--worked 3 weeks, got appendicitis, was out 2 weeks, came back too soon at that, and got run at the end of the next week for sleeping on the job. Just the beginning of a chequered working life.
A GREAT movie! So sad my copy somehow got lost. It used to be a family tradition to watch this on the 4th of July when my kids were growing up. Have you posted the entire movie?
I wish they would show this more on TV. I've seen it once and it's pretty funny. Different actors but the premise is still about the Parker Family and what they go through in their lives. I love the scene when Mrs Parker wants to stop at the roadside place and buy the windmill. My mother was just like that.

Love this movie. They have to release a restored copy of this on DVD. Why haven't they done that? UGH.

Awesome movie, really hits home for me being from the region this movie takes place in and plus always going on vacation in northern Michigan.
I just realized The Mom in this movie played "Naomi" on Mamas family.
