how we can call aziz general he never did any think positive in mauritanian army he destroy
mauritania with taya ,and he betrayed him when he went to saudia he forced sidi to destroyed mauritania and when he refuse he removed him juste because he had a trust to lead our stupide military which follow any body now aziz is doing what he have to be done since 1984 because he was fired and want us mauritanian to help him to stay and again destroyed us betrayed us as he did since 1984
The funny part of this is that the (from what i've researched) last coup happened in 2005....So, really, isn't it just a Junta being taken down by another Junta?
I don't know that much about Mauritania but isn't that what happened?
No. The Military stepped down to make way for a democratic republic in March 2007. Abadallahi was elected to Presidency, but now, as you can see, he's been ousted and Mauritania is back to military rule.
This is UNACCEPTABLE! What a disgrace to a country that calls itself an Islamic republic. Unless the previous rulers were violating the sharia and laws of Islam, all Muslims should go fight these thugs and restore power back to those who Allah placed in charge.
Not even an atom moves in this universe without God's decree. And all people who are in positions of authority are placed there by God's leave. Hence the responsibility to obey a righteous ruler, and to remove oppressive tyrants.
You are right in this instance, there is no power or movement if not by the will of Allah. And whomever Allah brings to power Allah can also bring him low.
I also think this coup was ridiculous after the democratic election that took place. Right now a system of nepostism exists in Maurtiania. More intellectuals within this country should try to reform this obviously corrupt system even if they have to seek assistance from the outside world, such as the U.N.
Why seek the assistance of non-Muslims? Mauritania is a Muslim country. Every able bodied Muslim male should have shown up to drive these fiends out of power and to defend their ruler. Surely their lack of action (and lack of iman) will only open the door to more and more tyrants and despots to rule over them (see the other "Muslim" countries)
do you think with all the resources africa has we cannot have industries to provide jobs. Do you know what coltrane is and where its mined. i hope no. how many libyians have you seen struggling to leave their country? come to ameriac and you see doctors, lawyers lecturers, etc struggling it out.wont it be best to sleep outside on a full moon to watch the skies.its time we resist looters under democracy communism socialism, etc ale of 10 million barrels aday can change the lives of this country
when the lives of the citizenry is improved they will and can resist any coup d état. They will protest. but if you are a leader and interested in mansions, speeches, travel and the people are suffering every body wants to see you deposed and suffering too. every one has one life not two. Nobody knows whether there will be some heaven somewhere or none at all
what is democracy to a hungry man. i do not blame those who support it. they will continue till the right person shows up to lead them. not after 4 years or 20 when he has stashed enough to spend with his family in exile. since the police cannot arrest them and charge them the army will. Africa has suffered enough under imposed leaders. we need such military guys in Africa who will save the country. democracy on a hungry belly do not
work. gone are the days of uneducated corporals and privates
I am from Ghana but in US. we have a similar problem with our president who was begging Ghanaians to vote for change in our lives turned to a virtual tourist. kids were even used for adverts. today his ministers, friends do not acre what goes on but are keen to sell what ever is left before they lave office this december 2008
bro soon there will b a revolution in africa and it will be a great empire and africans will not have to worry about how they will earn their daily bread god willing.
I believe Pakistan knows there country better than we do I think America should stand with the people there America needs to fix its own country before we can help Bush destroy peoples peace anywhere else. Who do these people think they are. Playing with the lives of human beings. This is not a movie this is reality. Research around whats happening to people ALL PEOPLE is shocking by far, and im not a person shocked by anything I thought wrong
let them do it. i am from US. i say let them have their coup, let them have their government. and if it goes sour, US will not get involved. they will have nobody to blame but themselves
yes, and the people of that nation are doing it. i am tired as hell of everyone blaming US for accupying other countries and stuff. so i say if the pakistanys want a coup, let them have a coup. if they want a revolution, let them have a revolution. it is about time the US gave the rest of the world the proverbial middle finger and let them deal with their own shit. i say we wash our hands of this and let them shape their own future. US shoul be concerned for themselves and their friends
the police seems alot nicer than those in libya xD

It's been done here in the U.S.

Do you think a military strongman is the solution to that? Jerry Rawlings ultimately relinquished power. But what if you get Sani Abacha instead?

You're equating the military with the people? BTW: I'm not advocating U.S. intervention. But this coup shouldn't be just shrugged off.
