Borderlands with cel-shading disabled

Cel-shading is an art style used a lot in modern cartoons, where as borderlands uses a more classic tom and jerry hand drawn look.

As for the outlines, lets use deus ex as an example, when you look at a usable object, you get an orange outline around it, which is essencially the same thing going on borderlands, except the effect is forced on all models, hense why you can disable it and it don't affect the game, if borderlands was cel-shaded and you disable, the textures wouldn't exist.

You do know the black outlines around the models isn't cel-shading right? that's something completely different it's just it's generally interrelated to cel shading because so many things use it. Cel-shading would only refer to an object where, unlik reality, there is no gladient in colour from dark to light, but instead, light > partly lit > dark, in seperate colours, Borderlands was never cel-shaded because the textures have a gradient to them, it's more of a hand drawn cartoon look.

you can also enable Anti Aliasing, and motion Blur. the blur looks pretty slick, i might add

I just found out this game had god rays, graphics are fine with me but gameplay they said there was like a million guns they all look the same to me just with some stat differences, maybe once I found a shotgun that shot rockets but the accuracy was so bad I got rid of it.

Good. If I get Boaderlands, I'll have to get this mod. I really hate the cel shaded graphics. It looks good on games like Madworld, Jet Set Radio, and Okami, but on shooters, like this and Brink, it just makes the graphics look a generation old, and muddy as hell.

And without the cel shading, you can tell just how dated the graphics in this game really are.  Damn shame they didn't keep with the original design.

EVERYONE LIKES THE ORIGINAL LOOK BETTER. The Cell shading ruined the game. They only did it because the game was getting too many comparisons to Fallout 3.

@fertisus it's standard if you have more money that the inventory screen can display, it's not hacked.

BTW, money is never a problem in Borderlands (except that you have too much xD )

I loved Borderlands when it looked realistic. Unfortunately, they scrapped it halfway through develpoment and, in my honest opinion, butchered the game.

It didn't fit the now very visceral and unrealistically violent gameplay. A game that looks real makes no sense when you blow half of a lower leveled enemy into oblivion.

I would also like the original game with realistic graphics for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. But that will probably never happen. Their too busy focusing on Duke Nukem Forever. Not that I hate Duke Nukem. After the Duke comes out I want Borderlands 2....

It was never meant to be taken seriously. Humor is everywhere in Borderlands, if anything it's a parody of apocalyptic wasteland games. I'm glad they went with the cartoonish look, otherwise it would have been yet another hideous BROWN & BLOOM game. Had enough of that ugly bullshit in Fallout 3, thank you very much.

@noodlezombie well, you have to know i didn't enjoy Fallout 3 too. but a game like this should at least have some sense of direction, its kinda like Fallout 3 with cell shading. im not hating on the game for its graphics only, i also meant the humor. After a while the cell shading and humor is really repetitive. i wont say i didn't enjoy it though.but yea, you feel like shooting a plastic gun after a while. the humor kinda led you off the game rather than keeping you focused. just my opinion.

Cel shading killed this game, it made it seem like a joke. Obviously other stuff killed it too, but it just made it .... silly I suppose. If you've seen the trailer from before they decided to butcher the great graphics and use cel shading, it looks amazing.
