Lark can take corners you just have too use the 4-11 and the throughtle to brake the rear's loose and drift the car, dirt track style, I could hold my'n in 35mph curves on two wheels after a bit of practice, but drift is easier if your not show boating.
The Old Studebaker V8 started off in the 1948 Landcruiser Limo modles as a 232V8 then grew to the 53 modle 259V8 then the 56 modle 289 V8 All of them based on the Original Merciadies V8 These engines the nash engines, and the Rambler engines, as well as some Yblocks shared many parts on an iterchangable scale.
That's just a 289 cu. in. V8 under the hood of the Stude compact Lark sedan... but boy does it pack a punch! The 1968 Dodge Dart needed a 440 wedge-head Magnum V8 to go that fast (13.43 seconds @ 106.79 mph for the Stude Lark!) And don't forget that there is 290 horses under the hood of the Stude! This Stude is much lighter in weight than a Dodge Dart and likely to be far more nimble (with the 440 V8, the Dart can't take on corners nor can it brake to a standstill very well!)
The 289 horsepower rating is probably understated by about 40 . Remember, they put a factory spec supercharged 304 R-3 on the dyno and got 365 horsepower. So much for "there's no substitute for cubic inches".
The Studes matched the go with the stopping power of Dunlop front disc brakes.

It isn't just a 289 V8, it's a factory supercharged 289 V8 my friend.
