I think Crosby sang with Whiteman's Band when he was on Victor Records. Whiteman moved to Columbia in 1928, and I think by that time Crosby had moved as a soloist with Brunswick Records.
@southwriter Yes. Bing and Harry Barris joined the whiteman band in mid-1926. So by the time this side was recorded he was already well-known. Bing's very first solo vocal record is "My Kinda Love" and "Till We Meet Again" Columbia 1771-D...recorded in March 1929.
I agree that it doesn't sound to me that Bing sang on this side. In fact I doubt it's any members of the original Rhythm Boys either. Paul Whiteman used a number of unindentified vocalists in his arrangements as needed. Nice arrangement anyhow!
Those lyrics at the beginning of the vocal are interesting. I hear "And that's why chinks do it, Japs do it.." Everytime I hear this song they sing "and that's why the birds do it, the bees do it." I wonder up to what year there are recordings using those original lyrics heard on the Paul Whiteman version here until the lyrics were changed because of political correctness? I read that Frank Sinatra did a version of this tune as late as the 1960's still using those original lyrics.
Bing isn't on this recording. He did record the song in January 1929 with the Dorsey brother's orchestra though!

Sorry but Bing isn't singing on this record. It's Chester Gaylord, Austin Skin Young and Jack Fulton.

Yes, Frank Sinatra copied alot of Bing's earliest recordings (i.e. Makin' Whoopee, I haven't time to be a Millionaire, and The Pessimistic Character)

Ther's a strong possibility that Bing did not sing on this side.
