I grew up in kilnamanagh and walked by Jacobs most weeks of my life and still drive by it regularly now always loved the smell of biscuits being baked. My old neighbour Mary grotty worked there for years and another guy I knew, dave Lee was a supervisor there, sad loss for tallaght.
imagin michael carey of the once jacobs biscuits on the ernst and young judging panel and he responsible for putting hundreds of irish out of work i’m irish and love everything that is. do you realise the man that owns jacobs put hundreds of irish men and women on the dole, just so he could have more profit by sorceing once irish made biscuits to england , shame on you i say, how can an irish man take the food from irish mouths and justify it by saying its good business,
What a joke the only robbery that took place in that factory was when Carey shut it down. Putting irish men and women out of work and shipping the plant to Aintree in Liverpool. Feed the English mouths with Irish graft , 150 + yrs and Carey gives it to The English, what a scummy thing to do Mr Carey, have ya no shame at all man. Remember 1916 up to 1922 that factory was part of our history and you gave it to our oppressers
Great memories of working in Jacobs in the 80's,worked with great people.I went from 9 to 11 stone while I worked there(loved the biscuits),but what a laugh we used to have.Hopefully there will be a reunion at some stage.
