When I open my imac it doesn't show the login screen, it instead shows the screen that shows when you wake the computer up from sleep, but my macbook shows the login screen. Is there any way to make my iMac open to show the login screen?
ok one more question can changing the logo screw up your mac because last time i messed with core services it fucked up my whole mac now i did the desktop thing but the logo worries me have you ever had your computer crash load up like a diffrent way because i really dont wanna have my computer crash again and reinstall mac osx please help
yeah i have snow leopard too. the apple logo in snow leopard is located in Macintosh HD > System > Library > CoreServices > SecurityAgentPlugins > Loginwindow.bundle (show package contents ) > contents > resources
Hey man, this is a good tutorial, but I don't think it is as easy as just replacing a file. I'm on Leopard 10.5.4 and I went through your steps and the screen is just blue with my login pane. But I've done this in the past and a terminal command is a must but I'm not sure what it is.
In the SecurityAgent "Resources" folder there are folders entitled English.lproj, etc. however you are not entering these folders. Look for the file entitled 'applelogo.tif"; it should be the first file. Then you should delete and replace that file with one of your preference. But be sure to backup that file. Let me know if this helps.
yeah mine does the same as Conradge360. Even though i go into "Resources" folder, the applelogo.tif isn't there. All there are is the folders..Can u help me?
I have not worked that much with Tiger in customizing the appearance. However, the systems folder organization is very similar and the folders are titled the same. This should work then with Tiger. Just look for the same packages and folder on your computer. And following the same process, it should be successful. Just remember to backup your files and remember your exact modifications so you can restore back to the original state if you don't like the change.
In tiger you can also just find "aqua.jpg" in your desktop backgrounds folder, and replace it with any wallpaper aslong as you make sure the wallpaper is renamed to aqua.jpg
Dude, thank you! I was gonna scream the next time I had to look at the lame default login screen. Your directions are easy! Thanks!
