My Windows Vista runs very well. . I am running it on a Compaq Presario SR5113WM Desktop Pc with 2.5 GB of Ram, Nvidia GeForce 6150 Video Card nforce 430. and a Athlon 64x2 Dual Core processor running at 1.9GHZ with a 150 GB harddrive. all this came with mine the only thing I upgraded is the RAM. It out peforms my mom's computer, Emachines Slimline series, with a 2.8GHZ processor and 2GB RAM with Windows 7 Home Premium. And the video and audio chipset are the same out of the two machines.

Just because you got an antivirus/firewall that dosen't mean your computer can't be harmed. New viruses can get into computers, and if they get in behind your OS your software can't reach it.

did you know that disk defragment and disk error checkin can reduce the life span of your hardrive??..it works the hardrive to the max...so defragmentin and error checkin do it only once a month atleast..peace

kissme11: Your right. But it do also make your computer faster. I defrag once a 3 weeks and error check bout every 5 months. But it's up to every person. If they want a fast computer with a shorter life or a slow computer with a longer life.

Um, try to shut off ur computer. Start up in safe mode.Then when it's loading press F8. When computer started up u should be able to go into the admin user without a password.

Then if you want to add a password on the admin account, open up cmd. Say:

net user andherethenameoftheacc *

It should ask you for a new password. Type the password and then type it again. You should now be able to login with the password ;) otherwise tell if it didnt work.

i use vista in several machines, one of them is a dell dimension 8400 from 2004 with vista HP since 2007, and haven't had complains about vista. a 5 years old machine and runs well, i render video with this machine, copy dvd's, surf the internet, use auto cad, Vegas 8, adobe premiere , nero 8, i even play with this computer. Is not a quad core machine, it has a P4 530, 4gb of ram ddr2 5300 and two sata hard drives of 160gb, it came with an ati all in wonder x600, but now it has a GF700gs.

Antaxj: Sp1 is an update called Service pack 1. search update in search bar and you find windows update. then check in the updating history if Service pack 1 was sucsessed or not.

Well. UAC is not needed at all if you not got a virus at computer. If you know you got a virus that you can't remove you should not take UAC off cause it will let virus do changes without asking you. that's true but most times its not needed.

And actually, UAC is important in many occasions. Someone might be trying to install programs remotely and you turned off UAC cuz it's "unnecessary"

Yer the clock and the calendar is gadgets. do the stuff i showed u and if it dont work open start and search sidepanel in search window from there you are able to turn the panel wich u can add choiceable gadgets like clock.

LonleyFury: Lol it's 1 of the things that slow down your computer but okay i tell you. :p where you see your time like 17:34 etc it should be 1 icon called windows sidepanel. right click on it then click properties. After that you can add gadgets from there like pictures clock and stuff :) Gl.

Are you administrator on your computer? anyway if the admin disabled the feature and ur admin it was probly disabled from beginning. try to open up ur picutres then rightclick and choice set as desktop background. if that dont work respond.
