hey i got my wig and the day i got it got messed up cuz it kept falling up and i have de tangler and a wig comb bu its getting worse and worse what do i do?
@Boomicorn Lots of the detangling spray and patience. XD; Depending on how badly it is tangled, you may lose quite a bit of hair but as long as you are slow and patient it is possible to split up. However, if it is clearly impossible, you may have to cut right in the middle of the knot once.
@TenshixXxNeko Equate Detangling spray. You can see the materials better in the Part 1 of the tutorial. You can use any kind of detangling spray, actually.
@ZZBadApplezz Straightening can probably take care of the curls and as for preventing knots, long wigs are going to knot either way. But a detangling spray or a spray in conditioner can help with that, as well as make it easier to brush out any potential knots using just your fingers or a comb.
I have a gakupo wig, and it was a bit messy after a convention.
My friend wanted to brush it and I showed her, and she started brushing it while I was sewing.
Now its 4834 times worse then what a wig should be. Its nothing but a clump of hair in a GIANT knot
I have half of it fixed after watching this. Though after I have it done, is there a way to prevent it from getting tangled during conventions at all?
@takerumayu It depends on the kind of brush you are using. I actually found a better brush to use and a different method, which I hope to make a video for and update this, but depending on the brush, not really. Though when first using the wig, it's best to avoid using the brush and the first tangles you see, use your hands. ^^ It's what I do most of the time, mainly cause I don't have a brush on hand.
@sasuke222able If you watched Part 1, there are places you can get the spray. There are other options like soaking the wig in conditioner. Anything will work as long as its purpose is to detangle, which helps the detangling process.
Hai, it is one day from halloween, and my wig is a wreck! i have a detangler/ anit frizz thing, buts its a cream, almost a conditioner-like substance, and it is one that you dont need to use with water.. can i use this for my wig? PLEASE RESPONG ASAP!
@PinMinCentral My apologies for not responding like I was requested right away, as I was busy with an event. But the only thing I could tell you is either do more research on that type of substance or else, test it on a small strand of the wig.
@animefreak09052 I used the same method as what I'm doing in the tutorial. It takes a loooot of patience and although my wig isn't as bad as it used to be, this was still the method I used to get it the way it is now. There are other methods of detangling, like soaking it in conditioner. You could give that a try.
I just got my wig today and the bottom is messed up REALLY bad. I can't separate the layers. It started of as a tiny knot then I started to brush it and its horrible. please help D:
@ShadowSims If you didn't brush the bottom first, that may be why. Soaking the bottom of the wig in water with conditioner and then spraying the knot with the detangler should hopefully loosen the tangles. Starting on one side of the knot, pull away very little amount of strands. At some point, switch sides. If the knot is so terrible, I suggest cutting halfway in the middle of the knot, then trying separating.
I'm wondering if it's wise to soak the wig with shampoo, one tutorial told me my wig would be fine but I'l just wondering and your expertise would really help!
@THEToastFairy I heard it's fine as well though I sometimes take precautions and get shampoos that are made for wigs or shampoos that are for sensitive scalps/hair. I also found that dog shampoo works perfectly fine lol
@animeNinjaTitan2 You can seperate the wig as many times as needed. ^^ I had to part one wig I used to have into so many little parts in order to get it untangled.
@animeNinjaTitan2 Sorry, it posted before I finished >.< But anyways, by starting on one side of the wig, try seperating it piece by piece. If need be, you can soak it in conditioner to help.
Oh my god. You are a LIFE saver! I just got back from a Con and got so upset that I was in tears because my Gakupo wig matted itself up and frayed horribly at the end so it looked like I had giant puffballs at the ends of my ears. You saved my wiiiiig! I seriously thought I'd have to get a new one. ;-; It took about 2 hours, but it looks as pretty as it did before all of the matts! Thank you thank you thank you!
@lunaforever17 I'm so glad it worked for you! I'm happy to help! ^^ And yeah, I was sadly in the same situation with a lot of my wigs. Q^Q Made me upset but after trying out different things, I found this to work the best. It takes a lot of time but it's so worth it!
@alkoshicat The only thing I can say, by guessing how tangled it got from just being dropped, is place it on the wig head and by hand, remove tiny amount of strands from the tangles. As for the curls, there are a lot of methods out there. I unfortunately am still experimenting on what is the best method for recurling wigs but once I find out, I will definitely put up a tutorial.
@NellyEdits It does, however, you will have to recurl the wig as it straightens it out. But curly wigs should be easier to curl compared to just normal straight wigs.
@pandachan1991 I bought it second hand from a friend but she said she bought it from cosplaywigs on ebay. But I'm not sure if it's sold anymore as it is quite an old wig.
@MoonlitSleepwalker Part 1 tells what I'm using. ^^ You don't have to use the exact same brand but as long as it's detangling spray, you should be fine. As for the other spray, you don't have to use what I am using. I hear leave in conditioner spray works just as well.
@konataotaku911jk You're very welcome! ^^ As for the spray, only use hair products for wigs. You may also use conditioning spray, which I hear works just as good as using oil sheen spray.
@AliciaHedgehog ^^ The detangling video shows how exactly I did it. My pigtails weren't as bad as they used to be but the process is the same in the detangling Part 2 video.
Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!! Your wig is so beautiful!! It's so smooth!! And thanks so much for making this tutorial! I've ordered a Hatsune Miku wig but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm positive this tutorial will come a lot in handy with my wig. Thanks so much!!!
@killerSkeleton Yes, it's normal. ^^ WIgs will lose a few hairs but after detangling it and if you take care of it, keeping up on it when you can, you will either lose 3 strands to none.
@evany11 I mainly get my wigs on ebay but you can also get some secondhand from Cosplay.com. There are other places if you look on yahoo.com or google.com but I mainly use ebay. ^^
@Kaneuchiha666 Spray the knotted area with the detangler spray to make it a little drenched, and then starting from one end, gently pull away some of the hair. Once you get some separated from the knot, brush it out. Then repeat. It takes time and patience.
@12343590 This method works for all wigs. ^^ So yes, this method will work perfectly fine. But you should probably wash the wig first to get all the gel out before doing this.
@12343590 The Oil Sheen spray actually helped prevent nasty tangles. Although it is optional to use it, it actually helped with the brush running through the wig more smoothly and like I said before, helps with preventing tangles. As for ponytail, do you mean off the clip on? No, that you do not need to do.
@KittyScene101 A few hairs will fall out. I had a huge ball of hair after seriously detangling my Miku wigs but after that, as long as you keep up on it, you won't have that problem. ^^
@Saerrix You can try soaking it in some warm water with conditioner or some fabric softener. Then let it dry over night. Then drench the area where the tangles are really bad with the detangler spray. I've used this method with fabric softener for a friend's wig that they commissioned to fix and it worked but it did take a LOT of time. If this doesn't work, then it has been badly damaged, which I hope that isn't the case >.<
@ZobiProductions I'm not entirely sure as I had bought it from a friend. But regular synethetic, kanekalon and even heat resistant wigs can still straighten. Kanekalon fibers don't take much to heat up so keeping the straighener low will not harm it. Heat resisting wigs (which I have a feeling it's what mine is) are a little more difficult and take more time but it works after a lot of patience. ^^
@boots1622fan As long as you have a wig brush and you have a lot of patience. The detangler spray helps a lot too. You will lose a few tiny strands but wigs lose them anyways no matter what you do. ^^
@Kaeladevil124 It's just regular equate detangler spray. It can be found in the children section. It's gentle enough that it doesn't do any damage to the wig fibers.
@reistar17 I'm curious about that detangler spray.~ I just bought my first long cosplay wig and I've only worn it for a day, but from that day alone it matted terribly~ and so I'm looking for a spray that will work all day & keep the wig from matting & tangling. Would that spray work all day?~
@ShubieMonster It does, actually. It has a little bit of conditioner in it which is SOOO nice. The oil sheen spray, after just putting in ONE spray and running your hands through it, also helps manage the wig during cons. I recommend washing the wig when it reaches a point it needs more of the oil sheen spray. But the detangler I bring to cons and I just spray it and brush the wig and stays nice all day ^^
@kawaiisocute No, it should be for hair products only, as the oil sheen you have is meant for only nails. But otherwise, any kind of cheap oil sheen spray for hair will work.
@WindChii It's just a cheapy brush I got at Walmart but I'm hoping to get an actual wig brush to use. This brush actually didn't cause any static and I've used it a lot. I think the spray helps too with the static, especially when you spray the detangler spray in it. ^^
I got my first cosplay wig recently, and I was so worried that there was no way to get tangles out of a wig. Thank you so much for this tutorial! It helped me so much!
HELPPP D: my miku wig ponytails are like knee-length and both are VERY VERY tangled. i just tried putting them in a warm-ish shower n tried combing them with heavy-duty conditioner n a wide toothed comb but it didnt do much and theyre still pretty tangled espically one of em. any advice? :s
@PeteWentzLuver58 It takes a LOT of patience to get tangles out, especially with a huge amount of tangles. The best you can do is to try to seperate the tangles. But if there is a knot that just can't come out even when you soak it with the Equate spray, unfortunately, you will have to cut it off. It's best to cut as close to the knot as possible to save whatever amount of hair is still there. I've had to do this too at some point but it's really not that noticeable. I hope that helps
I happen to have the EXACT same problem. my one is SO tangled. that mine is beyond repair. i had to order new extensions.
My suggestion is if it dosnt come out even after you soaked and conditioned it. Try going to a beautician store and buying special wig formula. Comb and yeas out. If the knots still dont come out i would have to suggest a whole new wig. Sorry sweet heart. But mine is also tangled like none other. If you DO get new extensions use this video.
@PeteWentzLuver58 Use this video at the slightest sign of knots. I learned the hard way. Water and spray will not get out big knots. it will only pull and rip out the wait hair. You can find the extensions on ebay for like 20 bucks. At the SLIGHTEST sign of a snarl, Come it out :) Every day i would suggest.
@LinksGirl57 The products I use are mentioned more thoroughly in my first video but all I'm using is just an Equate Detangler Spray that you can find at Walmart in the children section and the other one? It had the word Beautiful written on it but it's an oil sheen spray. You can use any sort of oil sheen conditioning spray really. ^^
@NarutoChick101 lol yes, that often happens with the miku wigs. But after this, it shouldn't lose as much hair as it did in the beginning. My wig when I first did this... o.o; omg, I though the pigtails would go bald!
@NarutoChick101 LOL yeah. But the wig should be fine though cause they lose hair anyways. Just something they do. And like I said, it's probably the loose strands that are tangled in with the rest.
hey i got my wig and the day i got it got messed up cuz it kept falling up and i have de tangler and a wig comb bu its getting worse and worse what do i do?

I got my first cosplay wig recently, and I was so worried that there was no way to get tangles out of a wig. Thank you so much for this tutorial! It helped me so much!

OwO... what was the spray for ?
12enma12 1 year ago
@12enma12 It's a detangler spray. ^^ To help detangle wigs. The pink can is to keep the wig from tangling very easily and leaves it smooth.

@reistar17 thank you soooo much!!! ive made rllly good progress on my wig so far! :D

@PeteWentzLuver58

At the SLIGHTEST sign of a snarl, Come it out :) Every day i would suggest.

wolfcrescent 1 year ago
@wolfcrescent No problem! X3 Yeah it takes a bit to detangle. My pigtails weren't that bad in detangling but it still took a bit >.< HOPE IT WORKS!!!

What are you using because I couldn't read the bottles very well
LinksGirl57 1 year ago
@LinksGirl57 The products I use are mentioned more thoroughly in my first video but all I'm using is just an Equate Detangler Spray that you can find at Walmart in the children section and the other one? It had the word Beautiful written on it but it's an oil sheen spray. You can use any sort of oil sheen conditioning spray really. ^^

I ended up with a bunch of blue/green wig hair on my floor XD
NarutoChick101 1 year ago
@NarutoChick101 lol yes, that often happens with the miku wigs. But after this, it shouldn't lose as much hair as it did in the beginning. My wig when I first did this... o.o; omg, I though the pigtails would go bald!
reistar17 1 year ago
@reistar17 ahha that what im scared of! would be such a waste if it went bald >.<
NarutoChick101 1 year ago
@NarutoChick101 LOL yeah. But the wig should be fine though cause they lose hair anyways. Just something they do. And like I said, it's probably the loose strands that are tangled in with the rest.

@reistar17 ah right right. the video was very helpful =D
