Hendrix was the apex of creativity and genius , of course modern players may have more technical facility in many areas but you have to look at the whole picture including songwriting..I love Andy Timmons , he is a wonderful emotional player which is of paramount importance.......if we were going strictly on chops to define a players greatness ...Guthrie Govan and Alan Holdsworth make Andy look like a beginner so there you are!
I cant stop listening to this fucking song , it's the most beautiful thing I have ever heard .....Its like Hendrix Is playing through this man from the spirit world
I'm amazed at how seamlessly he goes from dirty to clean just by playing softer or harder, like the clean ringing notes at 0:50 . He really hit a sweet spot on the gain knob.
Also, if my ears are not mistaken, he constantly alternates the low D with higher notes without turning the whole thing into a pool of mud. wow.
I know it's got a lot to do with picking technique, but I'd love to know what gear he used.
@gullywoots clean to dirty sound just by strumming harder or increasing volume a little is a sure sign of a tube amp, but what kind im not sure. i love his tone also.
@goatsrock03 after I posted my comment I saw him on another video saying he used a Mesa on that recording. It reminds me of a Top Boost Vox AC30 sometimes.
@gullywoots If you search youtube, Andy does a gear tour of his live rig, and there are studio videos of what he uses there as well. But his main amp sounds come from the Mesa Boogie Stiletto and Lonestar heads with Stiletto 4x12's and Rectifier Horizontal 2x12's all loaded with Vintage 30's. He uses either amp depending on settings, and uses a GCX system to link it all together. Guitarwise he uses a signature model Ibanez with an HSS config. His tone is just phenomenal.
@OtherRealmer this guy that runs a small business guitar center in my town told me he played with him several years ago. he said andy complimented him on his playing. i was impressed.
He does not get the credit he deserves. Absolutely a wonderful guitar player. I don't think that his days as guitar player for the 80's band Danger Danger helped mim too much. But he is very talented. All of his work is inspirational. He is just flawless.
You know I heard this song on the Mesa Boogie site and i thought it was the coolest tone and just song overall! I am starting to really like Andy Timmons he makes some great music!

@OtherRealmer He uses Mesa Boogie, he tours doing demonstrations for them. He played at a local guitar store by me. He's a great guy, really funny.

woah what a great music... it makes me feel happy... why has it been seen just 4600 times??
Andy is a great guitarist, and can play as fast as malmsteen, but he dont need to, and ynwie needs cause he cant play other way.
