Great break down, and thank you for the game footage. It's great to watch skilled Ultimate players work that well together.
I would like to see break downs of stacks during gameplay. Its the hardest thing to teach my team is the flow of cutting as well as the importance of not clogging the passing lanes.
Possibly more videos of plays after restarts such as the "Zipper" video posted last week 2/7/12.
@Lordness4@Lordness4 discvideos(dot)com/carleton-vs-florida-2010-college-open-nationals/ and the 2008 one was herd to find and it gives crappy video, but you have to go to the right off the page and scroll through the videos until you get to it cstv(dot)com/sports/c-ultimate/cs-c-ultimate-body.html there ya go
I like the idea, but it's tough to layer commentary on a reunion game because of your history with the teams and involvement in the game- you aren't free to criticize poor mechanics/effort/execution without sounding like a homer or calling out a buddy. Maybe give it another shot with a different game?
I am amazed at how conscious you are of all that goes on in the game of ultimate. Both what's going on personally with your own mechanics etc., and the game as a whole. Great work. Wait till you actually have some years of high level ultimate under your belt, you'll be scary.
Also, break down some of the things happening in the game espn style. What I mean is for example, watching Kurt mark and breaking down what he does that makes him so effective for example. Or looking at what offensive strategy a team is using. That's my cool feedback but way more warm feedback then cool.
I'm really enjoying all your videos immensely. I am sending them to my summer league team. I would like full game commentaries but my suggestion is to pick games that are really well-played, and , if possible, well filmed.
This is a really cool idea - unfortunately, low camera angles sort of suck for watching ultimate. Would you be willing to comment on some of the Nationals game where you can see the field a bit better? This would really help to give a better perspective on what is happening on the entire field and not just the line between the camera and the thrower.
@brodiesmith21 I have a question, I see that in high level ultimate, not many people use zone defense, can you explain to me why that is? Thank you =)
@brodiesmith21 It would be great to have the replays and break downs without having to interrupt the flow of the vid. Maybe popping up links on the vid to a more detailed analysis of a particular play etc. It would be a shame to lose the flow of the game.
PS. Having what the fouls were is awesome. It is often hard to tell what exactly has been called on youtube vids.
Nice work Brodie. I like that you keep it humble, ie- say things like "I missed that throw" rather than blame a teammate for misreading the disc. Keep it up.
explanations of WHY things are happening would be great. maybe try pausing right b4 a big throw to explain why it's going up. explain what offense and defense is being played and why. that'd be AMAZING!
if you could get multiple cameras shooting so you have multiple angles. it would a challenge to edit but a great production for explaining strategies. This helped a lot. To see more experienced people play some disc thanks. keep it up.
@kg1292 Yea we are def hoping that we will eventually get the funding to be able to have our own crew at tournaments...right now we are accepting any footage that we receive.
Yeah, definitely some analysis of what each team is trying to do would be great. A good first effort, great to see some good ultimate players, even if you guys weren't playing the crispest game. Zerg ftw
You are amazing! thanks, i love the video, but i would love to see you break down the games, and go with more strategic commentary! like why someone is somewhere and what the players are doing. Thanks so much, we love you <3
@oOPPOSITIONo Vegas fields are always tiny. I would say it was about 35 yards wide and maybe 65 yards endzone to endzone with the endzones only being about 20 yards
@brodiesmith21 where can i find the discs that u guys use. cuz the ones at the sporting goods stores say that they're the "official ultimate" disk, but i dont buy it. So what disks do u use and where can i find em?
Definitely would love to see more videos like this. It would be awesome if you guys could include more strategy breakdown and maybe more camera angles just to be able to get a better feel for what's happening on the field.
brodie really any frisbee that someone can get their hands on should be caught. Dont take the blame for that hammer touchdown pass that was dropped by your teamate
@mrtretre100 any missed disc is always the throwers fault. even if the receiver "drops" it, the throw should have been, maybe not a "better" throw, but maybe a "different" throw
@steelerfan786 im the one who goes deep on my team and the only bad throw is one that i cant touch. If i touch the frisbee and dont come down with it, its my fault, not the throwers
@steelerfan786@mrtretre100 There is a middle ground in my eyes. Most of the time, if I can touch it, it should be caught. But there are times when I can touch something but not necessarily grab it, like if the throw is closer to the defender and he holds position well. Sometimes you just can't catch it, but I still usually blame myself for anything missed because as captain I would rather take the blame than have my players upset at themselves.
@Fashkill i agree with you on the grounds that if a receiver can touch the disc, than it should be caught. but it's always the thrower's fault. maybe the receiver needed more than to touch it to catch it? all i'm saying is that handlers need to know their cutter. even if it looks like the PERFECT throw, if it's dropped, then it wasn't perfect. whatever the reason, the handler needs to know who is cutting, where and who the defender is, what to throw and where to put it, and to throw or not
Great stuff, and I think you have the right idea with focusing more on strategy. You put out some pretty sick highlight videos in 2010 with Florida, but if you have any of the full game footage from that season it would be pretty cool to look at that. Just a suggestion. Keep up the good work.
I think breaking it down more and talking more about the strategy would be good, also if at some point you can get video from an angle that shows the field better so you can talk about the spacing and flow.
Analysis and explanation of all the offensive and defensive strategy would be excellent, bring a higher level of understanding to watching the replays, etc.
@tdkrisw This one we were going for just a full-game commentary without any stoppages of play. I def want to do some though where we break down replays like you talk about.
Great break down, and thank you for the game footage. It's great to watch skilled Ultimate players work that well together.
