I love Midnight Oil, but damn this is a funny video!
Good parody of the real Oils music videos too. The shadow of Rob Hirst playing the drums (Blue Sky Mine) and the giant dumptruck (US Forces) almost made me spit my coffee out HAHAHA!
1. I'm going to go search for evey video that I know I'm going to hate
2. I'm going to put negative comments and stupid responses to all those videos even if it's just my narrow mindedness or the fact that I'm too naive to understand the video
3. When someone replies to my comment in a negative fashion I'm going to go away and have a cry and then tell them what they can do with their comment in a really mature way
Saturnthunder, you are outrageous. I have never seen a person have so much dislike for such a small thing. Go be rude and act like a child somewhere else.
they get wat the bands are about, the point of the sing is garret going against everything he stood for as part of midnight oil and selling out, its not hard to understand, u need to see garret as a politician to understand this
Garret isn't selling out. the labour party has a budget and they can't do everything green or else they may aswell lose the election like the greenpeace.
his meant to be an environmentalist, he allows dredging of port phillip bay, he allowed an aerial dropping of 1080 that will kill life that is not pests, the liberals may have not done anything to do with whaling, but behind closed doors, im telling you that sea shepherd would rather have the liberals back than garret controlling the issue, he makes promises he cant commit to, the liberal guy controlling the issue has since joined sea shepherd, garret is a total sell out
That's ridiculous if you prefer liberals over the labour party if your thinking envionmentaly. Why would the Liberals not sign the Kyoto Protocol? Plus, they have done things for whaling, they make an effort which was proven after the Japanese hadto postpone there hunting for months. Like I said, they aren't greenpeace, they can't fix everything.
i dont prefer libs over labour in regards to the environment, im just stating that garret has made some very interesting choices, and that he has made promises that he has no kept in relation to whaling, sea shepherd are experts on the issue of whaling, they saved 500 odd whales last year of the quota of 900, they know who the better party is, and they thought that the liberals were doing much more than what labour has done to save the whales, the greens think aus should fund sea shepherd
they sure are, sea shepherd are not corrupt as there a non-profit organisation, they put their lives on the line fow what they believe in and rely on donations of tools and food just to be able to go down to the antarctic waters, the greens want the aus govt to fund sea shepherds next campaign as they see them as the only group that can save the whales
lol, greenpeace are one of the most useless organisations in the world, all they care about is money, they would be pissed off if jpn stopped whaling as they couldnt take any photos and earn millions of dollars, greenpeace havnt saved one whales life over the past years, they spend something like $70mill dollars on advertising, insted of spending the money on what there meant to believe in, all aus should do is send down a naval vessel and arrest the whalers, its as simple as that
you may thinks its a stupid comment, but gp went down there took photos and received millions from their advertisement, they came home and had the chance to go back to save whales but they didnt coz they were already making money, ss had to come back and wait for someone to donate for fuel, however they went back down for a second crack and were held hostage and had flash grenades thrown at them, if gp really cared bout saving whales they would do more than take a photo
the japanese whalers laugh at greenpeace, they can still whale when gp are protesting, they catch their quota while gp are around, as soon as they see sea shepherd on the horizion they run and while their running they cant whale, you cannot seriously believe that gp are trying to save whales, wat with a zodiac and a camera, lol, try being a bit more rational than what your being and look through gp's photos
Seems the Mighty Garret may have sold out... maybe he figured that he had to sell out a bit to get to be in parliment so that he could at least try to make some changes.
That's what HE says. But if you write to his office or try to talk to them on the phone everything is fine until you bring this up and then they cut you off 'just like that'.
@FusionStudios I voted for green in the latest election, but I definitely wouldn't want them in power. Some of their policies are good (and they're good for balance), but they'd screw this country up hugely if they were a majority party. They've screwed up Victoria for instance, with their asinine blanket ban on dams and nuclear power.
Don't forget the fact that it's their fault that's it's so expensive to LIVE, unless you want to walk around by candlelight and return to the glory days of puppet theatre.
@fixtgod Only if i wanted to be a Murdering, homosexual who's against all religons, don't give a Fuck about Reality or life it self and have no way to defend myself against anything sure
I did not realize Peter Garrett had changed his politics so drastically (I don't live in Australia and it's enough for me to keep up to date on US political crooks). Sad news, if it's true. Also, the song title is "US Forces," (not "US Soldiers")
Key difference, "US forces give the nod. . ." and the soldiers just follow orders, and are put in harms way thanks to ". . .their leaders with no time to talk." It's the American way. Midnight Oil wrote that song over 25 years ago and little has changed. But the soldiers are just doing what they were trained and told to do.
You should check out Rob Hirst and Ghostwriters, he is still maintaining the rage, he is protesting in Brisbane this Saturday 16th June over USA and Aust Wargames off the coast of QLD.
Father Ted once said, "It's funny how you get more right wing as you get older." But I don't think it's an inevitable process. I'm 43, and remember the glory days of their early to mid 80's tours. When this was their latest single. Best band I've ever seen live. Now, the disillusionment is so hard to swallow. Great parody though.
It's not just an 80's thing though. He was an activist even in 2000 when they wore those "sorry" shirts in the Olympic ceremony, suggesting to me he really has only changed opinions in favour of a guaranteed $100k a year Labor safe seat. If he really loved the party, he'd have contested a marginal seat.
I agree. But it's hard to digest. He doesn't want to be bob bob bob bob bob brown brown brown brown brown I guess. At least the latter has stuck to his guns for 30 years. I think he's filled the slot that Don Chipp used to occupy. 'course I'm Tasmanian. Surprise - I can spell.
im gobsmacked anyone can vote for him; his hypocrisy is startling, i can only assume people have forgotten.
