I got the HP Pavilion Dv3-2050ea it is the exact same as this laptop but just smaller and I had it for just about over a year and I regret buying it. The laptop over heats all the time and the graphics card is also going, and it burnt me when I used it on my lap

@eternalnature101 Use compressed air to clean out the fan. That's what I had to do with my 1230us (same specs as the 1240). The elevation created by the 12-cell battery actually helps to keep the temps down a little.

And I have to say its a good pc for gaming, the graphics are okay... but the problem is that my computer easily overheats... or not overheat but after playing for a while my computer becomes very hot. Its like if I've played a game for like 45 minutes and feel beneath my computer... its the same as putting your hand inside a hole that leads directly to hell... its hot as hell... and its build as it looks like no air are to come under the pc. >:[

@patrickodavid I would choose the first one. Even AMD Phenom II Dual Core is faster than the i5 Dual Core, and the graphics, ATi 5650 is awesome. Also, it has 180 GB more space then the 2nd one.

I would pick the 1st one, but do they cost the same or not? I wouldn't pay an aweful lot for the 1st one and the features, if not thinking about the quad core.
