First step of unity was giving Tajik and Hazara people rights 100 years ago (most western countries didnt let foreign ethnicities vote in their countries at that time), then again in 1964 when Dari was recognized as an official language.

Many famous Farsi singers are Pashtun for instance Ahmad Wali and Ustad Zaland are both Mohammadzai pashtuns who lived in Kabul.
