Hi Rhonda. The Education System is a mess, but they endlessly steal our money and call it taxation. I'm not liking the situations forced on us by others.
Hi Lasz. The States as mere geographical areas? Yeah, the reality is taking place more and more all the time. Cookie Cutter existence prescribed by the Federal Overlords of Power and Wealth. Te death trail of diversity and individualism.
Great Concept Mr Bodine! I understand what you mean,Ive just had a polling letter through my door yesterday so i can vote in the next election! But why should i!! Politicians etc these days dont have anything to do with the Public, they dont mingle with the likes of us mere peasants.lol :-) x
Hi Queen Nina. You're no Peasant... your a Queen! In all seriousness though... my main concern is over the Majority Rules phenomenon that could, by its very nature, exact it judgments and dictation onto all people, in all matters, which is an attack on freedom. Variety is a manifestation of freedom, not cookie cutter lifestyles or communities.
this is one topic i will not do a vblog reply on cos i just don't know enough on the subject. "If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 years there'd be a shortage of sand" Milton Friedman
Hi Michael. I don't pretend to have definitive answers to some questions, but I'm raising the issues to allow you to voice an opinion on these topics, if you have one. 8-)
Thomas Jefferson, an advocate of individual liberty and states rights said, "I hope we shall crush in its infancy the aristocracy of the monied corporations".
Hi shabdadune. I appreciate Jefferson for many of his achievements and for his varied interests, but as a slaveowner, I despise him as well. We seem irrevocably doomed to be controlled by the rich and powerful bankers, lawyers, land developers, politicians, etc. many of whom have their tentacles deeply inserted into our national life.
Great topic! The fact is that corporations have taken over the political process. The federal "Marshland Protection Act" was passed by ONE vote. If it had not passed, there would be industries in our marshes and wetlands. Local jurisdictions are some of the most corrupt and favor local industries and in most cases control local politics. I have always been for limited government, but in today's world our best bet is a strong central government, not ruled by corporate power.
Hi shabdadune. Protecting our natural areas and heritage would be a concern! There are issues that need to be addressed in the name of freedom, including people's desire to have the right to destroy habitat and environment, which I'm all in favor of protecting for the future, and the right in itself that wildlife, habitat and environment has to exist in peace with humans. There must be a balance, but Federal control over such diverse issues can be claustrophobic and questionable.
It would certainly keep the Supreme Court busy. ;)

We need across the board standards for some things such as education. It makes you wonder how much freedom we truly have. Try not paying your taxes.
