This sequence was once used in Soviet Russia and seems to me to be the best one, except that both sides should go red for a few seconds.

Actually UK Sequence is

Red, Red + Amber, Green, Amber, Red

There is no Green + Amber

i like this Signal Very much...i agree the sequence is much better,it gives you a "Be Ready to Go"signal in a way.

the intersection of Superior Ave and Forrest Hills in East Cleveland a long time ago had a signal like this one in the middle. later, a green left turn arrow was added so traffic coming westbound off Forest Hills could turn south on Superior Ave. Its now gone, replaced by a modern job of unknown manufacture.

Excellent! Reminds me of the old signals when I was a kid. They removed them in the early 80's. I remember approaching the electrician offering to buy the signal!
