What a magical rendition!
Best vals of all times!!!!
great rendition - unfortunately there would be no military in the US that WOULD or COULD play a waltz anymore. We have lost all of our traditions to "non-music", This is wonderful to listen to. thanks for posting!
One of the most impressive things about Juventino Rosas, is that he was an Otomie indian for whom Spanish was a second language and had just a few years of formal training, succeed against great discrimination.
Bravo, Juventino Rosas. Con Orgullo de Mexico para el Mundo! Music has no limits! Bravo, Juventino Rosas proudly from Mexico to the World!
@Yoaltecuhtli I have no idea. I haven't looked him up yet. I just started investigating it recently. Its probably somewhere on the net. I will ask my father, tomorrow though.
@bloodandbones9 Juventino Rosas was born on January 25, 1868 in Santa Cruz de Galeana, Guanajuato. This wonderful waltz was conceived on the banks of a river and crosses Contreras, México City, premiered at a birthday celebration of president Porfirio Diaz. Juventino diseased spinal myelitis in Cuba, died on july 9, 1894, at a age 26 but he heard his waltz on his bed, which was played by a band on the street, just a day before he die, july 8 of that year in 1939 he moved to the Rotond Illus men

Please don't translate the name of the vals, the name is Sobre las olas, not Over the waves it is true that is the translation to English, but Im sure the author can be prouder if you play his vals in his lenguage!!!
