Speaking as an impartial it do prefer the Royal Navy Drill and uniform especially as the women wear the same as the men (apart from headgear). Considering its the oldest professional military service i thinks its quite ironic.
no problem im joining hopefully in januray of 2011 got medical soon then pre joining fitness the 4 day course then the 8 month training i cant n yes you maybe become my commader some time do you have nice to chat n keep in touch
saphirephoenix08, im joining the raf regiment as a gunner im to sure how long the parades are but i no it will not be at halton its a RAF honnington where the regiment depot is. good luck to ya
I passed out at Swinderby in 1977 - proudest day of my life by a country mile. Watching this reminds me just why - well done guys and gals, great parade.
@AdamAlim95 the first march is "wellington" by wilhelm zhele...there are a lot of great air force marches that are not played often..i wonder why the DOM chose that one?
I joined today, 13 July 1964, 45 years ago for basic training at Swinderby. We weren't so lucky; no lovely ladies to share the trials and tribulations of squarebashing. Still, I wouldn't have missed it for anything; went on to become a loadie on Hercs.
I feel old, I did my TRADE training there and basic at Swinderby. They look a lot smarter than we did. The week before us the flypast was a tanker and two F4 Phantoms, us, we got 4 chipmunks that took forever to fly past.
I used to hate parades with the exception of the Battle of Britian sunset parade at Kinloss. Can't beat being a Scot marching behind a pipe band.
To any one interested in a RAF OFFICERS CEREMONIAL DRESS PARADE SWORD i have one for sale on E-Bay please take a look

@pcjoel999 Agreed, but not as good as Marines ;) Just a bit of banter, being in the ATC myself, I do love the uniform.

@pcjoel999 i disagree, any service is smart, ive been to an army one, with over several hundred 16-18 year olds, it was a brilliant day, so rigid.

@shauny11mufc i know....i'm from an RAF family (lived with RAF squadrons for 18 years)...just keeping the inter-service rivalry and banter alive :P
