All I can say is hubby has the record still for the lower Colorado for flathead 74 lbs,51 inches which was a nice fish but no monster like they have in mid west rivers.And the game warden sent him to a butcher shop because the scales had to be certified by the state and their's weren't.This is a big fish for it's kind.

These pics are genuine. My uncle and this guy, im not saying names, fish together. It was only him and his wife fishing where he and my uncle fish together.  He claimed he couldn't get the fish in the boat so he let it go. He could have easily tied the fish to the side and idled to the boat landing, which wasn't far. I myself think he did it out of respect for my uncle, which held the state record for a while and the world record for a short time for rod and reel with 50 lb test line.

Catfish is by far my favorite fish to eat. A fish this size though I'd probably turn loose after I weighed, measured and took some pictures. I grew up on catfish which I probably why I like eating them so much. I've talked to plenty of people that can't stand eating them. To each his own I guess. I didn't understand the comment "Cafish is only good in soup." WTF? Fillet it, use corn meal or flour, fry it in oil. Serve with some fried potatoes and you have a world class meal right there!
