WSX had everything needed to become a great wrestling promotion. I didn't like the arena set, but they had everything from an amazing roster to great action. But MTV was just the wrong network for a wrestling show. Bringing in guest host who knew nothing about wrestlng, That rediculos ring announcer, and making every possible surface explosive made the show incredibly cheesy to me. Maybe if WSX was on a sports network instead of MTV, they'd still probably be around, without the corny nonsense.

Cept maybe Jimmy Jacobs, think he was a jobber sometime in '07. Anyways, none of these guys are on the mainstream cept Evans who is in AAA (Mexico's WWE), Matt Sydal (Bourne), and Tyler Black is now in development with WWE.

the only reason y this failed was because of 2 reasons

1 they use sparks and stupid camera shakes no one cares bout that specially if u have high flyers and ppl that can do new moves (like these guys had)

and 2 the biggest reason is cause it was on MTV no one is going to sit there and watch wrestling that is on MTV.

sad. Episode 3 had a fireball incident that got MTV to become pussies. Then they heard that there was to be a parana tank match on episode 4. That never aired on tv. So they let them finish their contract cause season 1 was done and refused to sign them a new one. Sad Sad Sad. such great show of atheletisism. I think i spelled that right.

Actually, MTV pushed for the piranha match...of course the fireball incident didnt help matters. Also, new management at MTV was the biggest factor in it being cancelled.

@DraconusStar No he was fine. The whole season was taped in a week. I was there for one taping, a day or two after the incident and I watched Vampiro wrestle for a good 20-25 minutes. It just didnt go over so well with the network.

It is true that having a TV network behind a show help it to take off a lot, and that MTV was "trying wrestling" and had little interest in this show; but there is others ways around. If the critics back you up, well you are in business (Seindfeld's style... Which is o.k for 4 or 5 seasons to attract an audience).If the fan by the stuff like crazy, you are also in business (Family guy style, which is even better from a business point of view because...).

WSX had a tremendous amount of talent. They gave guys like Teddy Hart and Matt Sydal chances, and let veterans like Sean Waltman, Vampiro, and Justin Credible have another chance. They knew what they were doing and used their weapons well.

However, my only complaint was all the flashy explosions and unnecessary stipulations. They made it seem way too fake.

WSX had amazing performers during it's season, but everything else was just a countdown to failure.

Too much pyro, the 3 match program, the fact that it was on MTV, the over-the-top/foolish spots, the desire to make EVERYTHING extreme, the announcers, the shaky/blurry camera when a "sick" spot ocurred, etc.

When I first watched it I thought it was a wrestling show that didn't take itself or it's wrestlers seriously, and that kills any wrestling show.

I miss WSX. They actually released a box set of the first season. I own it. It has the exploding cage match on it. And in WSX fashion it was crazy computer graphics. I didn't care for the ring announcer. What I loved is who was on it. Human Tornado, Jack Evans, Teddy Hart, Matt Sydel(WWE's Evan Bourne), Matt Classic(who was Colt Cabana or WWE's Scotty Goldman), And Joey Ryan. WSX was a who's who of Independent wrestling outside of ROH. I so miss it.

the thing about WsX is that the concept was really good. its just the excecution. you cant have a half hour wrestling show and try to do storylines. like with tna.they knew ppl wanted to see action so thats what they did. now that they got the tv deal for the 2 hours they became like wwe.but seriously if you look at the talent on that wsx roster its unparralleled. except for mesias.he should stay where he belongs doing bullshit matches with kenzo suzuki and vampiro.
