As I was listening to this wonderful composition, I was reminded of a story I was once told by a student of a spiritual guru. It went something like this - Within the God universe, a group of Gods got together and for their amuzement decided to create this universe (our universe), right before it was activated, there were two of the Gods that added music to the universal composition. When asked by the other Gods why they wanted to add this music, they replied..."To ease the passage of time."
@Dancewithme1983 I didn't realize until today that Mr. Barry had passed away. He had so much to do with enhancing some of my favorite films (or perhaps they WERE my favorite films because of his music). This one and Somewhere in Time are two of my favorites....
The intensity that is added at the 1:46 mark tells us that we're "in too deep" ... just like poor Ned Racine in the film -- but by then, we know it's too late. Absolute magic ... thank you, Mr. John Barry ...
I saw this GEM of a film again last nite ... and the opening theme is still etched in my brain, just as it was some 30 years ago when I watched it for the first time ...
The greatest film music composer of all time - only he could create this sensuous music so appropriate to the theme of the movie. R.I.P. John Barry, I love you.
The music and the movie are hand-in-glove, with each complimenting the other. I live in South Florida, and have visited many of the locations where the movie was shot. It's really eerie to walk down the center aisle at the Hollywood Beach bandshell, where Hurt got his first fatal gander at Turner.
@edwardjames50 Speaking of that memorable scene, I've looked everywhere for the music they played in that scene (the big band piece). That was a little different than the rest of the soundtrack, but just as good and memorable...
If there was ever a brilliant example of modern 'Film Noir' this was it. It really was similar to 'Double Indemnity' but highly enjoyable. Thank you for sharing.
"This" is the "REAL" Body Heat theme. NOT the 're-recorded' brassy cd version. PLEASE, give us the complete sultry vinyl version of the Body Heat original album. I love this music!!!! Thank you for
I agree. I was disappointed to know that the big band music in the scene where they met (by "accident") at the boardwalk wasn't part of the soundtrack. I think it should have been...
GOT TO BE ONE OF THE SEXIEST SONGS OF ALL TIME.

Not the original recording by Barry on Label X, but it is a very nice rerecording!

@silvanusslaughter I think Label X was the best version, but this is nice too.

Basically sounds like sex - musical sex. Excuse the kinkiness, but that's what it sounds like.

@recovering16 ~ I really love that arrangement of "That Old Feeling," which got an Oscar nomination as Best Song in 1937.

music is perfection for the film---steamy, moody, noir with a capital N.
