  • look! THAT'S MY CAR!

  • Awesome miss Queenstown

  • How can you dislike this you miserable cunts?!

  • This is actually the drive from KINGSTON to QUEENSTOWN.

Also, the road around the lake is known to locals as "The devils' staircase" because it is quite twisty & there's steep cliffs to the lake below (You can't see these that well in this video).

  • Awesome video! I love the music.

  • 40 minutes? that's like when i drive from manggis to lumapas.

  • Wow reminds me of home between Taupo and Turangi :P

  • Wonderful scenery

  • WAKITIPU! Hella trip on the ol' push bike Do visit GODZONE once in your life, It's been 20 years for me and I had tears in my eyes upon seeing this. The fishing is fine , the scenery outstanding, and the people astounding. Zane Gray said it best. :God bless New Zealand. I will remember you forever:.

  • i have this weird feeling before getting to sleep, had this for many years, every move i make with hands or legs, goes very fast but actually it doesnt, i dunno lol

  • great video--thanks for posting it

  • i like it there maybe i can migrate?

  • I Love New Zealand

  • new zealand looks great, cant wait to do my visit there and australia too. should be good.

  • Sababa Meod Meod , wil vist jan feb . love the kiwi people - know some here in israel

  • Roughly 80% of the world today drives on the right. Ancient Rome drove on the left and introduced the beginnings of a road system in all of the territories they conquered including the UK.

  • @georgio941

I welcome you to check and know the scientific and technical reasons why in ancient Rome there was system of driving on the left.

no stupid fighting on wrong ground here, Ok.

Weather left or right driving is correct.:Let us search find it out before any further comments.

  • going here in march..cannot wait!hows the nightlife in queenstown?

  • more pubs and clubs than you can shake a stick at.

  • i ve been there three years ago. for four whole weeks. I think about living there every evening before i sleep. if it was not for my wife who is stuck with her family here i ve moved definitely. the country is absolutely beautfiul. the pople are great food, standard of living...everything is right in nz. long live the kiwis. chris from malta

  • LOL I was tense watching this, waiting for an accident, driving on the wrong side of the road and all, oh boy

Anyway, I envisioned living in NZ for a while, that is until a bunch of British expats came back to complain about the living conditions - hardly any doctors, no insulation in homes, cold, rainy - is it true? I asked one American and he said yes. So that killed my dream. However, I'll still visit one day - but won't drive ;)

  • We drive on the correect side of the road and where ever you are the driver is always closest to centre line. You have talked to a few Brits, 1american and you dont want to live here and thats how you judge my country

Have you ever talked to a real Kiwi

I live in paradise, Born & Bred Kiwi

  • @ac130ugunship

I live in Finalnd, and dream to live in New Zealand. A person who could not be happy with New Zealand, wont be happy with any country in the world.

New Zealand is a paradise, its a dream to realise.

  • Cheers Mate, especially in the South Island is true paradise. I am a Kiwi of Scots decent on my mums side, Clan Cameron of the Highlands

Eldest son works in Aussie, (Mines) and is engaged to a lovely wee lass and where is she from, just out of Helsinki

    Realise the Dream ,

Where I am originally from (Bluff, a wee port town at bottom of South Island) we welcome anyone who wants to fit in and teach us about their culture. Currentl y I live in Timaru, half way up east coast of SI

  • @ac130ugunship

well, I live and work in Finland. originally an Indian girl by origin. My supervisor is a scot living and working in Finland.

  • Small world isint it, Finland at the mo would be a bit chilly compared to home?

  • yes, Finland is quite cold during winter, in Januray the temperature was -15 to -20 degree C, walking is dificult outside as the fingers get frozen. In fact, I feel locked up in room in this weather. There is absolutely no outdoor life in winter in Finland.

  • Mate, that is too cold for this Kiwi, my winter might get to -8 C, although inland, Central Otago or Mackenzie high country can be -10/-15C

Its 11.25pm and is 15.5 outside and 21 C inside

  • well, winter in Finland starts from november onwards and continue upto april end. Temperature vary between -5 degree C to -20 degree C. current temperature is -8 degree C outside and perhaps 20 degre C inside. kind of weird difference. It is rather boring here at this time, snow will start to melt only in april, and one can see the flowers only then.

  • @Mahuadas2009 real winter is -30 c , then its good to be outside and drink some vodka to give you warm :)

  • am checking about Timaru, are you in the the group, " i am pretty sure New Zealand is the best country in the world" in facebook?

    Please join the discussion board.

  • No not yet, tried to find it on FB, no luck so far

    Can you send a link

  • yeah cold and rainy in winter you get use to it tho, summer is long and hot sun goes down at about 8 -9pm good for partying and getting out and about., we have real good medical care, only real old homes dont have insulation most do just make the move man you will love it here, summer is just about to start yay!

  • i know this road drove it too many times and in winter it can be a death trap!

  • This is so cool. I did this drive recently :)

  • Note the title is a little misleading on this video clip... this is actually from Kingston to Queenstown (Part of the trip from Te Anau/Milford).

Nice clip though! Thanks for posting :-)

  • how long does it take to drive from milford to te anu and then from te anu to qtown?

Im gng to NZ in 2 months, and am doing the fly/cruise/fly tour for milford sound as I hate the sound of being on a bus for like 12hrs!! The thought is making me feel sick, esp on those windy roads!!

  • If your going by car it would take about 3 hours 30mins (Milford-Queenstown) but your going to want to stop and take pictures along the way so factor that in ... the drive in is amazing! I would recommend the drive in and then flight out after an overnight cruise on milford sound ... truely stunning! We saw dolphins, seals, penguins, etc but the sound itself is the most stunning part :-) enjoy!!

  • the drive to queenstown 2 te anau takes so long but the two towns are pretty close....driving through lake wakatipu takes so long....but awesome scenery

  • Thank you, this is the perfect video i have been searching for to play with the song red barchetta by rush.

  • wow our roads are very very bendy lol

  • It's funny to see everything speeding by like that. I love the music. Who's the band playing? What car were you driving in the video?

  • That fast-motion video thing makes it look so amazing!!! New Zealand rocks.....

  • I made a google earth KMZ file with the route mapped out for those interested it can be downloaded here.

    cid-cdac4daf80daa966(DOT)skydrive(DOT)live(DOT)com/self(DOT)aspx/Public/Te%20Anau%20to%20Queenstown%20Youtube%20video(DOT)kmz

Sorry about the horrible address. Maybe the video creator would be kind enough to put a link to a copy on the vid summary.

  • why not just do it with google maps?

  • You can't as far as I know (don't know much about maps).

  • this video starts nowhere near te anau, it starts in kingston, 2 hours drive from te anua

  • Yeah looking at the map 40 min seems pretty fast from Te Anau.

  • Wow yeah if you pause it at exactly the right frame (around 0:03) you can read the brown sign on the left that says "Kingston Flyer turn left 300m"

  • Just spent like 20 minutes searching for this video, knew it was on here somewhere!

  • beautiful! it's funny where it suddenly stops because of the red light^^

unbelievable how beautiful new zealand is. a must see. shit, I'm even thinking of moving there in 10, 15 years..

  • Great video, How many time it takes by car?

  • arrrg i hate the traffic lights on the bridge its annoying! they should just build another with 2 lanes! O_o

haha but thats besides the point. love the video its awesome, i got one similar but i dont know how to speed it up.

  • What a groovy video.

  • Invert? u must be from a different planet or somthing "blooperasn", wer else would we drive.

  • Okay, that was too cool. :-)

  • It is not inverted. In New Zealand they drive on the left side of the road. Sometimes tourists forget though and there are dire consequences.

  • thats so awesome!!

hough it does make me feel slightly motion-sick!! i love driving in NZ though, always something cool around the corner.

  • I was down in NZ almost two years ago and I still think about the place a lot. Christchurch and Queenstown were my top places but I also sometimes think about Dunedin and Wellington as well. Each city there is unique in its own way.

  • This is an incredible video, and the song is so fitting for it. I can't wait to go.

  • I drove that exact same route when I was there on my honeymoon four years ago. We went round the South Island, and every day I saw scenery that took my breath away.

In common with many other posters here, I miss New Zealand hugely - thank you for the best holiday of my life.

  • did anyone else feel kinda car sick after watching this? =P just kidding, great movie, I miss NZ so much...

  • Not bad, but to be honest I was a bit dissapointed to see that this is actually the road from Kingston to Queenstown which is only a part of the road from Te Anau, but still good. I am planning to put together a NZ Round Trip footage, similar kind like this, so hopefully that will extend the lenght of your road all the way to Te Anau. :-) Good job...

  • Ive travelled this road by bus from Te Anau, good to see the views, but then again would have liked to be able to stop and take more photos, especially when the road meets with the lake.

  • Great vid, lots of fun! I'd like to do this route sometime in the summer.

  • This song goes so well with this video :)

New Zealand looks like an awesome place to live at!

  • Awesome road this. Ive only done this trip once but fully expected to see dinosaurs grazing in the hills. I miss NZ big time.

  • Good stuff! I love that road. Have travelled it often.

  • I'm missing NZ and this is a great reminder of home! Not necessarily my choice of song but I always find myself coming back to this vid so it's growing on me. lol. Keep it up.

  • Been to NZ 5 times, this brought back some awesome memories. I stayed in the old bottle house in QT.

  • This is absolutely the best vid on You Tube - I've been back numerous times to watch this - good choice of vid and music.

    Welcome to NZ - it's great !

    Many thanks for this !

    Rob

  • Watching that brought back some great memories of New Zealand.Thanks.

  • That's like slow motion compared to me in my Porsche. Haha jks but it would be slow mo to the dude who owns the red 911 Turbo in Queenstown.

    I love that place

  • Got stuck behind a couple of thousand sheep on this road. Great fun!!

  • good video but its not from Te-Anau, its from Kingston. it would take you about 2.5hours to go from there to Queenstown

  • This is making me sick. Like - physically. Very pretty though!

  • this brings back so many memories. my friends and i did this drive last year. scenery is beyond belief once you get the opportunity to take in what's around you.

  • this brings back so many memories. my friends and i did this drive last year. scenery is beyond belief once you get the opportunity to take in what's around you.

  • trippy vid! pretty awsum! i live bout 40 mins away from queenstown in cromwell! interesting to see this vid but it was great thanks! :)

  • this brings back such great memories of home...beautiful video...thanks so much for posting!

  • reminds me of a ski trip in queenstown with friends...we stopped every ten minutes to take picutres

  • Love the country so much...Been to the north and south islands...awesome. I miss NZ. I am definitely going back there again someday!

  • i am so going to NZ :D

  • im dizzy!

  • "This is from Kingston to Queenstown, not Te Anau."

^ That's what I was going to say.

The last place they stop is Sydney Street in Queenstown.

  • I was gona say the same thing, Get it right fullas

  • This is from Kingston to Queenstown, not Te Anau.

  • what is the last place where he stopped at the end? i've travelled NZ 10 years ago and i miss the beautiful country so much...

  • Way to make a kiwi abroad homesick!!

  • Hmm....where are all those campers vans I had to follow ?

    Fantastic drive.

  • Lol, at 3:07, I thought you were going to rear-end that van, then I remembered the video was sped up. Amazing.

  • How many miles (kilometers) from Te Anau to Queenstown?

  • The most beautiful country on this planet! :)

  • Awesome! We did this trip last year - it almost felt like being back there. Our soundtrack for the holiday was 'Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol'. We live in the UK - if only the roads here were like NZ.... Thanks for the clip.

  • NZ - great country, nice people, nice scenery. Today is Dec 10, I want to go back so bad especially Queenstown and Christchurch. I plan on going back next year depending on job. I would love to move there !

  • Thank you! Makes me feel closer to home.

  • newzeland also very nice place to tryel

  • was in queens town 2005 july, its the most awesome place on earth!

  • Great vid, and great song! But it's hardly Te Anau to Q town, more like Kingston to Queenstown!

Random aside: We used to travel this piece of road quite a lot for holidays. Dad convinced us that the "Slow watch for road slumps" sign was referring to small animals known as "Road Slumps" funnily enough Mum and Dad could always see them (they were nocturnal) but not us kids! LMAO!

  • awesome bro

  • I miss you nz

  • I wanna move there. ! Thanks for the loading this. Makes me wanna pack and go now.

  • Mate,

I must've driven that road over a thousand times. Brings back memories- recognize every corner, culvert and dead possum.

  • omg driving on the wrong side of the road! lol

  • new zealand. Greatest country on the earth, take it from an englishman thats emigrating there. They people there care about their country quite obviously because of how nice it is, unlike here

  • I agree totally mate! A great country where people have a sense of preservation. They also have family and social values that we lost decades ago.A great nation in every sense of the word.Good luck with the emigration,be happy there!

  • I did new zealand this july. went from auckland, taurunga, te puke, napier, wellington, picton, then at last christchurch. and really, best experience ever. i dont know of too many places where you can snowboard, and surf in the same day.

  • So, this was filmed about November, which is late spring/early summer in New Zealand. Check out the traffic - none! It's like this in the height of summer in the South Island. Get a motorbike, go tour!

  • incredible...only road and nature.

  • That very beautiful country, totally foreign to me. Would love to visit New Zealand sometime.

  • at home we call this the 'devils staircase'

  • I was on this same road last year, it's beautiful and scary at the same time. Thanks for the memories!

  • wOW THIS MAKES ME DIZZY

  • i must have passed by the same road haha. i love new zealand it's like this nice isolated world by itself at the edge of the world. oops too long sentence.

  • er i meant to say, edge of the earth

  • Great video and soundtrack! Brings back wonderfull memories of uncluttered roads, beautifull scenery and fantastic people. What a country!I miss it!!!!!

  • Shit I drove that nearly as quick as that when I was a lad (pissed mind you) and from Queenstown to Mossburn in the days that drinking and driving was not such a big deal.

  • Hey thats actually only going from KINGSTON to QUEENSTOWN... Still quite spectacular though - I've done a few 'timelapse' videos similar (using lesser known soundtracks) of scenes in and around Timaru...

  • Tim Shadbolt mayor of Invercargil is a kid fucker

  • Fantastic, top class!! I use to drive that road most weekends. Kingston was always a good stop for a Jimmy's Pie and Boysenberry ice-cream.

  • nice to know people in the vicinity of q-t use you tube =)
