This is actually the drive from KINGSTON to QUEENSTOWN.
Also, the road around the lake is known to locals as "The devils' staircase" because it is quite twisty & there's steep cliffs to the lake below (You can't see these that well in this video).
WAKITIPU! Hella trip on the ol' push bike Do visit GODZONE once in your life, It's been 20 years for me and I had tears in my eyes upon seeing this. The fishing is fine , the scenery outstanding, and the people astounding. Zane Gray said it best. :God bless New Zealand. I will remember you forever:.
i have this weird feeling before getting to sleep, had this for many years, every move i make with hands or legs, goes very fast but actually it doesnt, i dunno lol
Roughly 80% of the world today drives on the right. Ancient Rome drove on the left and introduced the beginnings of a road system in all of the territories they conquered including the UK.
Driving system in New Zealand is correct, the reason is scientific. Most people ( more than 90%) who are right handed maintain a balance through left hand. Only left handed people maintain a balance through their right hand. So medically, driving on the left side the correct.
i ve been there three years ago. for four whole weeks. I think about living there every evening before i sleep. if it was not for my wife who is stuck with her family here i ve moved definitely. the country is absolutely beautfiul. the pople are great food, standard of living...everything is right in nz. long live the kiwis. chris from malta
LOL I was tense watching this, waiting for an accident, driving on the wrong side of the road and all, oh boy
Anyway, I envisioned living in NZ for a while, that is until a bunch of British expats came back to complain about the living conditions - hardly any doctors, no insulation in homes, cold, rainy - is it true? I asked one American and he said yes. So that killed my dream. However, I'll still visit one day - but won't drive ;)
We drive on the correect side of the road and where ever you are the driver is always closest to centre line. You have talked to a few Brits, 1american and you dont want to live here and thats how you judge my country

yes, Finland is quite cold during winter, in Januray the temperature was -15 to -20 degree C, walking is dificult outside as the fingers get frozen. In fact, I feel locked up in room in this weather. There is absolutely no outdoor life in winter in Finland.
well, winter in Finland starts from november onwards and continue upto april end. Temperature vary between -5 degree C to -20 degree C. current temperature is -8 degree C outside and perhaps 20 degre C inside. kind of weird difference. It is rather boring here at this time, snow will start to melt only in april, and one can see the flowers only then.
yeah cold and rainy in winter you get use to it tho, summer is long and hot sun goes down at about 8 -9pm good for partying and getting out and about., we have real good medical care, only real old homes dont have insulation most do just make the move man you will love it here, summer is just about to start yay!
how long does it take to drive from milford to te anu and then from te anu to qtown?
Im gng to NZ in 2 months, and am doing the fly/cruise/fly tour for milford sound as I hate the sound of being on a bus for like 12hrs!! The thought is making me feel sick, esp on those windy roads!!
If your going by car it would take about 3 hours 30mins (Milford-Queenstown) but your going to want to stop and take pictures along the way so factor that in ... the drive in is amazing! I would recommend the drive in and then flight out after an overnight cruise on milford sound ... truely stunning! We saw dolphins, seals, penguins, etc but the sound itself is the most stunning part :-) enjoy!!
the drive to queenstown 2 te anau takes so long but the two towns are pretty close....driving through lake wakatipu takes so long....but awesome scenery
I was down in NZ almost two years ago and I still think about the place a lot. Christchurch and Queenstown were my top places but I also sometimes think about Dunedin and Wellington as well. Each city there is unique in its own way.
I drove that exact same route when I was there on my honeymoon four years ago. We went round the South Island, and every day I saw scenery that took my breath away.
In common with many other posters here, I miss New Zealand hugely - thank you for the best holiday of my life.
Not bad, but to be honest I was a bit dissapointed to see that this is actually the road from Kingston to Queenstown which is only a part of the road from Te Anau, but still good. I am planning to put together a NZ Round Trip footage, similar kind like this, so hopefully that will extend the lenght of your road all the way to Te Anau. :-) Good job...
Ive travelled this road by bus from Te Anau, good to see the views, but then again would have liked to be able to stop and take more photos, especially when the road meets with the lake.

new zealand. Greatest country on the earth, take it from an englishman thats emigrating there. They people there care about their country quite obviously because of how nice it is, unlike here
I agree totally mate! A great country where people have a sense of preservation. They also have family and social values that we lost decades ago.A great nation in every sense of the word.Good luck with the emigration,be happy there!
I did new zealand this july. went from auckland, taurunga, te puke, napier, wellington, picton, then at last christchurch. and really, best experience ever. i dont know of too many places where you can snowboard, and surf in the same day.
Have been twice to New Zealand,3 weeks the first time and 3 months the second time. There's no place quite like it anywhere on the planet.I LONG to go there for good and never return to this Hell Hole called the UK!!!!What a friendly nation of people and what a gorgeous place to live.
So, this was filmed about November, which is late spring/early summer in New Zealand. Check out the traffic - none! It's like this in the height of summer in the South Island. Get a motorbike, go tour!
2 weeks today I fly back to New Zealand, I live just south of Timaru a few hours from Queenstown but have been in London past 4 months and done a 4 week tour of Europe, was planning on being in London till December but just cant wait to get home - Ticket changed !! NZ IS THE BEST
Have been on holiday twice to NZ from the USA and traveled that road three times. Thanks for the video! We want to move to NZ so bad. Loved Queenstown area.
I miss NZ. I LOVE this video -and the music is paired perfectly. I've watched it probably once every month or so and it always makes me smile. Thanks :)
i must have passed by the same road haha. i love new zealand it's like this nice isolated world by itself at the edge of the world. oops too long sentence.
Great video and soundtrack! Brings back wonderfull memories of uncluttered roads, beautifull scenery and fantastic people. What a country!I miss it!!!!!
Shit I drove that nearly as quick as that when I was a lad (pissed mind you) and from Queenstown to Mossburn in the days that drinking and driving was not such a big deal.
Hey thats actually only going from KINGSTON to QUEENSTOWN... Still quite spectacular though - I've done a few 'timelapse' videos similar (using lesser known soundtracks) of scenes in and around Timaru...

Fantastic, top class!! I use to drive that road most weekends. Kingston was always a good stop for a Jimmy's Pie and Boysenberry ice-cream.
