i dont see the point of converting one of them to electric????? the hpi baja petrol one is probably much easier to live with ha lol just put ya fuel in and pull ..... instead of the whole take ya body off..... take bettery out charge the batteries.... then go lol and not for as long. stupid...
@RedSpecial18 For reference, I have 2 7.4V/8000mAh lipos in series in my E-Revo Brushless and it has the same runtime as my FG Baja with the 26CC Zenoah. And it's faster. The only real difference is that you don't have the noise that you get from a petrol engine.
@mancobooster Have you checked lipo prices lately? The break even point between 2 stroke petrol and lipo is a lot closer than you might think. The main issue with conversion of bigscales like the HPI or FG machines is that you had no proper bigscale conversion kits out there so you'd have to make your own using either brushless systems for 1:8 scale or arplane motors. Batteries are not the issue anymore with the prices the way they are. I'm sure I've spent less on my Revo than on my FG.

and i know that a heavy vehicle like the baja 5b (i have one too) you 'll need a powerfull bl motor ,about 3000 watts ? at peak power you'll need 78 amps ?
that means you'll at least need a 5000 mah 20c lipo so if just to say you 'd run it on 10 s you could buy 2 5s packs for 40 $ give or take you'd still need 80 $ for one pack and if you'd wanna run it more then 15 minutes you'll need at least 160 $,gassing it up is cheaper
@mancobooster Yes and no. The investment is up front with LiPo, and during running on 2 stroke petrol. I have 2 sets of 4S 8000mAh, which have cost me including shipping 150 euros, but the costs of charging is peanuts after that. As far as drive time goes, I use this in the Revo Brushless with a 2200kv Castle Creations and have a runtime of 45 minutes if I bash hard, and I have my low voltage cut off very high on 3,4V/cell so if put on 3,0/cell is should be able to drive for an hour. tbc..
If I then double up on everything, 8s, A motor 2 times more powerful (Castle Creations has a HPI Baja conversion kit now based on 8S), the run times will stay roughly the same. And you'll have reverse as an added bonus. :)
That said, if you have a good working petrol engine already, the need to convert to brushless is of course not there. But if for instance like me you get rolling chassis from ebay/marktplaats and then have to make a choice, brushless is a very attractive possibility nowadays.
Buying a brushless system about $200 and $150 for lipo to convert then its free from there. Gas if you add up your spending on buying nitro/gas its costs way more money to run it and more maintenance than brushless powered
adjusting your rear camber with the upper a-arm turn buckle will help in the corners. i noticed that the wheels are pretty straight and if they are tilted slightly inward at the top it gets a bit better grip in the corners. remember, the baja 5b is rear-heavy. excellent conversion! cheers!

sweet. nitro and gas have there pros and cons and the same is for electric. electrics give u amazing power while the gas and ntiros give u the run time. but with the way the world is goin it looks like that electrics cars are weel on there way which means batteries will get more advanced. look, we had nimh and nicads for a long time and now look at this within a past few years we now have lipo and
a123 which will eventually replace lipos like lipos replaced nimh and nicads.
Im not sure what kind of experience you have with Nitro, but nitros to have insane power. Im an electric guy, but I have to admit nitros do beat electric there. Top speed, electrics have it. I would choose electric over nitro

I find this very cool, and great, has awesome power, unfortunate, you cant just have one or the other, there will be both. I dont think he would be getting anywhere close to the run times the fuel motor is getting. I can get with my 5b between 30-45 minutes depending on how I drive it. Though it would be interesting just how long it does last till it hits 3/4 power and starts to really drop. Id like to see Hydrogen powered :)

What are you talking about, I dont go through all that crap all the time. I may have to retune my motor, but Im on the same clutch, and spark plug. And just so you know I own all three versions of the hobby, nitro, electric (brushless, brushed), and gas, so its not like Im a fan over one or the other like you, its just I like them for what they are, and not trying to push one, or my beliefs upon others. This is cool, but because parts may last longer is still no reason to say "get rid of gas".
