The pottery from San Marcos Tlapazola is made by a group of women potters exactly as shown in this video. The town is 25 miles from Oaxaca city, close to Tlacolula, and if you find the shop of the Mateos family they'll show you how the work is done. I've been there several times, and while the pottery is mostly utilitarian, the people who make it are wonderful. Their language is Zapotec, but they speak Spanish too. Go to Oaxaca, find your way to San Marcos and please support these good people.
