According to wikipedia's list of bear attacks most are black bears. Doesn't matter what color, bears are dangerous, stay away from them and carry a gun and pepper spray in the woods

I'd hate to have to fight a bear. You can't punch it because bears have those long muzzles, which would deflect blows, and more than likely break your hand. Humans can punch each other easily because we don't have a muzzle, our faces are rounder and have more surface area than wild animals.

In that situation, the only logical method of attack would be jabbing the fingers into the eyes, like in women's self defense, causing immediate pain or permanent blindness for the bear.

@matthias66 Doubt thats gonna work. A bear would grab a person and throw them down easily And maul them to death. Bears have been known to ignore pain and keep on fighting. Guns or pepper spray works though. It is almost impossible to defend yourself with your natural weapons vs a full grown bear.

@MisterVigild black bears rarely attack and thats from a person who ran from a 600 pound mother black bear at the age of 5. black bears aren't really territorial and they bluff more than anything to tell you your to close and if you run mostly they either stay or run away in the opposite direction and climb up a tree ( dont climb up a tree because their great climbers) and to answer your question if one attacks you just play dead with your hands covering your neck if they bite fight back.

Grizzlys are more likely to attack and kill you because theyre powerful enough to see you as food and not a threat. They arent fighting for their lives, theyre fighting for a snack. Therefore, natgeo does not fail. Your research does.
