Zubrin's problem is that he always talks as if he was preaching to a group of young space buff students. He's right, but this won't help him sell his ideas to the ageing men that are in charge of the US space policy nor the general public.
He's also prone to sounding like a fanatic (which he is, in a way) and that never comes out well. It makes it easier for people to dismiss him and when they do that, they dismiss the same ideas held by thousands of other people.

@rocketshipstud2 We've got to get away from this non space ferring attitude of saying, 'WE CAN'T." No great explorers have ever said they "can't." Mars is the best case we have for experimentation of if we can leave our home planet and thrive. The future species of mankind may depend on our ability to spread our seed on other home worlds. One cannot and should not stay in his cradle forever. Robert Zubrin is a great, inspiring man with a vision and a mission for all of mankind.
