Many times in technical support voice or video is not supported. In other cases I find that some people prefer to do text rather than voice or video. Also, sometimes with extended chats you might be engaged in some other task and only intermittently sending or receiving text for comments. So this allows you to carry on an extended conversation without a direct focus on iChat.

This message is to salvin2: no, when the iChat window is minimized you can't dictate into it, for MSD you have to have the window and the forefront. Thanks for the compliment on the video.

Excellent demo, thanks! Does it work with iChat minimized? I am tempted by the idea of carrying on a chat conversation while working on something else, or perhaps while browsing the web in relation to the conversation.
