Cool. I don't know why you say this is well tempered though. Well temperament is an irregular circular tuning, as opposed to the modern equal temperament, Pythagorean tuning, meantone temperament, or just intonation, not to exclude the many other tunings.
i do have nails on my right hand, because i'm guitar player, but on this instrument i play mostly with fingertips to make sound more soft. So i wouldn't say nails is important to play it.
@nadishana where are you? are oyu living in europe? in european union? i whant to buy some things from you. but i have to calculate how much i will pay like taxes ( fees boarder). i'm living in italy and my government taxes too much good out from european union.
Coooool! You are amazing!! there is nothing like the sounds of an instrument handmade with heart and Mother Earth gifts...it has a soul that never any synthetiser will be able to give.......A Creative Essence ...a Divine Spirit Touch...
Amazing send us info on how we can get one of these. Our human beat Box Senistar would probably rip the planet with one of these. Come see him on our channel now!
the people that don't understand that the "wah" sound is made by the sound resonating through your mouth, then bouncing back to the mic... are retarded.
very cool instrument, so far I'm impressed with your work.
@nadishana dont get me wrong, i think the video is absolutely mind blowing, i've never seen such an instrument or style of playing an instrument. Its just it looks simple to build, and the materials look inexpensive, correct me if im wrong, maybe the wood is from some enchanted forest and the metal is forged from a unicorns horn, i mean how else can you explain charging nearly 100 dollars for something that looks like its materials value is less than 1 dollar?
@nadishana your playing is outstanding, and yes i understand musical instruments are very difficult to make. they should be worth much more money than the cost materials. however, I do think that you seem to charge a lot more for your products than if someone were to go through a different retailer. Do you make these yourself?
once again, excellent videos, your water Udu playing is my favorite
@tj1990 fine, ok tj900, we should all just throw our real instruments in the garbage and get a a fucking synthesizer, then we'd all be more productive. thats a great idea. everybody, get rid of your instruments and get a synthesizer. just kidding, and fuck off
Awesome!!! I have a 4-set Kou Xiang but I really don't like the fact that they are 'random' tuned. This is an awesome idea. They pretty much HAVE to be amplified to get a decent sound out of them though, unless you're really playing for yourself in quiet surroundings. You're an amazing player of everything man :) keep it up!

Do you need nails to play this instrument? Does it make it sound better in any way if you do have nails rather than plucking it with your fingers?

@tj1990 it's fine, play it on synth, nevermind. And one time try to make it. Then you'll answer your question yourself

@tj1990
Sure you could play a synth, anyone could.
But this thing is unique, its creative, its not looking cheap that matters.
And there you have it, with a synth you waste a bunch of green. This thing can make the same sound as a synth and be cheaper :)

Did you add an echo effect via microphone and amplifier?
Does the instrument still sound like this if not amplified?
Moabeat1 3 years ago
The reverb effect i added in video editing program. The instrument still sound like this when it's not amplified (except reverb).
The volume level is the same like on every normal kou xiang.

Anything like a normal jew's harp?

I don't press it to the teeth or to the lips. I just keep it in front of my mouth, since the tongues make sound without fixing them to the teeth
