@milkbluemilk "i love cobra and phases. don't get why people hate it so much."
Do they? Well, screw them.
Although I've got plenty of love for the really early Stereolab, to my mind their best period was & is from "Emperor Tomato Ketchup" to (& including) "Sound-Dust." It is not only their most musically diverse and (at times) challenging period, but it is the era with the most heart. It was the gorgeous interplay between Laetitia & Mary's voices & the spirit of collaboration & discovery.
from wikipedia: On 2nd April 2009 Stereolab manager Martin Pike posted a message on the band's website, announcing that after 19 years the band would go into hiatus as "there are no plans to record new tracks". =(
Yeah! I really miss her and Mary. Especially Mary. I saw them live last night and liked all the post Mary stuff better than the older material, only because there is a mighty hole where Mary used to lock in, vocally and musically. The newer post-Mary material works better live as it was written without her. Dare I say it but they need to up the estrogen factor in the current line up and get some more women in the mix, especially on vocals.
their best tour by far, i love cobra and phases. don't get why people hate it so much.

The keyboardist was Morgane Lhote. It's too bad she left the group, she rocked.
