Tascam DP-004 Demo - Rock

I bought one about a week ago, and when I record guitar into it, it sounds really fuzzy and crappy when I try and use distortion. When I play it clean it sounds fine. What should I do?

@festustoad when you record, you hold Play and press Record.

and for playing it back just Play

how can you convert the file you recorded on your tascam into a listenable file on your computer?

I would like to use a distortion pedal for a guitar rhythm part in a song. I then want to record the rhythm onto the TASCAM DP-004 Digital 4-Track Recorder. Is it possible to plug my guitar into the digital recorder with the distortion pedal as well?

Would it work like this: guitar-->pedal--->digital recorder

I really need help with this. I am new to the TASCAM DP-004 Digital 4-Track Recorder.

@wheelchaser1962 check out the demos using the internal mics, man..they are awesome..and the internal mics are being compared to some pretty expensive mics and they are just as good sounding..i mean you can actually barly hear the difference between the mics...

Just wondering, I would like to know did you mic the drums or use the internal mics?
