I got the trance tutorial by SA and it started with a fully made trance setup and there was no steps in how to make that from the begining So anything he said went over my head. The music theory looks helpfull though.

@buleberrymmm yeah.... we use lennar digital sylenth in a lot of our tutorials as it sounds great but you can get close with all the built in plugins

For people who want really learn it try to learn the musicprogramm and look for tutorials how to create sounds with a synthesizer like Tone2-gladiator ,rob papen-blue etc

and FL-studio is much more easy to use (i have tested it)

The Kick is clipping badly.... this is DIGITAL audio, not ANALOG. Any sound level over 0db is clipped..... I know Ableton has some sort of cliping protecton algorithm but i was in the understanding its bad practice to run so hot??

They sound a little softer then the drums on my hard disc. I use megui with nero aac 256 kbs settings, 48.000 hz. do you have settings for me so that i don't loose quality on youtube in my music?

FL is good for beginners.Ableton it's actually aimed to professional users,and that's why its AMAZING!

agree to tilli09 : i've used FL since 5 - recently tried Ableton and WOW.

it will allow a beginner to get results very quickly (if you use samples for instance). you can use your vst plugs and you can also hook FL to it.

the matrix approach to adding bits to a song will have you play your fav music in no time in crystal clear sound. all beginners - you gotta try!!

making actual songs is much more intuitive than with FL.

I seen this whole tutorial and thought it was terrible. I don't know who it's aimed at because for complete beginners, they'll be lost at every step because you jump straight into it without explaining a bit about how you got the sounds or what your doing half the time. For people producing a while they'll learn nothing a bit more advanced, because yet again you've just shown sounds you made earlier and gave very little guidance on how to get them.

@ gorillaBaked, i think that's intended, because it looks like that tutorial and others from sonic academy are to get you to check the full thing on their website, and maybe it's not free at that point, and that's the aim of it.

@GorillaBaked Well they have a tutorial before that one for the principles of using Ableton, explaining every thing quite well, they didn't explain all of the details of the program of course but it explains the important stuff, so maybe in this tutorial they're just showing like the general picture of making trance, assuming you saw the earlier tutorials.

Besides I think its more like a teaser than it is a tutorial, because after all they do sell these tutorials.

I agree. The tutorial is to fast forwarded. Though it's some good sounds it's not really a tutorial. More like a walkthrough imo.

If you like dubstep too go buy that tutorial. There is a lot of good basic and intermediate explaining in it.

Ive tried, but to be honest, I learn NOTHING from watching SA tutorials. Maybe they should replace this guy Phll Johnston. He is a terrible teacher.

For the reverb clap is that just a clap sample layered on top of the dry clap? Or have you bounced the clap w/ 100% wet reverb? It looks like you've used some heavy compression on that as well.

You can do that easily with a quad-core.

I use about 16 tracks and i get about 14-19% at max. ^^

well I am running an early iMac 2006 intel 2 gighertz 2 gigs of ram and I definitely couldn´t run that many tracks with plugin´s of coarse a quad would be able to but a duo core can´t

No sequencing program makes shit quality mate. The program puts out what you put into it. I use FL as a stand alone(For now) and my tracks come out just fine. I have also used ableton. Id like to use FL and Cubase together.

That's not correct - FL uses much more crappy signal processing utilities than ableton. Loop the same sample in fl and ableton and see what i mean
