well actually he didn't raise the difficulty, he made it easier, because the basket "gets wider" using a high arc compared to a lower arc... that aside, go dirk! :D
In shooting a higher shot, he increased the chances for the shot to go a little haywire which would cause a strong rebounding battle, making it more difficult for the Pacers to get control of the ball quickly enough to get a timeout.
1:09.... who'd have thought Rick Carlile would get fired by the Pacers for having his first and only losing season and go on to bring Dirk and Dallas its first ever championship??
I'm a huge Dirk fan, and love the idea that he intentionally made a more difficult shot. But, is there any chance he was trying to miss it on purpose since they did not have a timeout?
@dimmedwits Yeah I think he was trying to make it miss to let the time run out...that way they would have to heave it since the Pacers were out of timeouts.
This had me confused for a second. I saw the old jerseys, Josh Howard and Devon George...and then I saw Carlisle. But then I remembered it was a game against the Pacers. :P
that is how you shoot, higher the arc, wetter the shot.

@GotBizzyPk not true at all. less arc=more wetness. more arc=better shot for most tho

here's the real situation: dirk was intentionally trying to miss the 2nd free throw but made it anyways
