We are an all-male brass group from Scotland. Great to hear your playing. If you come to visit your friend who is studying in UK we could do a joint concert :)
I'm not an expert tubist, but low notes are really hard for me to articulate cleanly when they are fast, and it seems to be the same for most anyone else without it sounding like gurgling. Yet this is very clean, all parts. Kudos to you
@MrGuitar144 It happens because of the sheer size of the instrument. If you just barely put a puff of air through the instrument, by the time it comes out its a lot longer. Try it. Get a piccolo player and yourself. Have them play the shortest note they possibly can and you do the same. Hear the difference?
@MrGuitar144 Only way I know how to is to go into the lowest register possible (low concert F, first and third valves down) and do the concert F majour scale. Start with whole notes, accenting each note. Then half notes, again accenting each note. Then quarters. Then eights. Then sixteenths. Start slow, and make sure you accent each note cleanly and make each note head stand out. Speed it up little by little. If you keep doing this over and over, your tongue gets stronger and stronger.
Yes, it is authentic, no there's no men either in the pictures or playing the tubas. There was actually a man helping us to press the recording button.
We're unfortunatly not playing together at the time, since one of us is studying in UK, but we might pick it up again next year, and a video would be a good goal :)
@Oathblivion You're not kidding.... that high end tuba would be a nightmare to articulate.... coming from me and I'm a high range Tuba player/low range euphonium player
would like to watch a DVD of this wonderful quartet, because I am part of a means of musicians that play this type of instrument ... tuba, euphonium, trombone etc ...
bravo... my lips have been put to shame

@bassrocks10101 Will do, thanks.

It's harder for players to get perfect tuning with big mouth pieces. So, this is absolutely well done! "☆☆☆☆☆"

This is some impressive tuba playing, but I agree with kylehighspeed, just a bit more oomph would make this unbeatable

the last proof that Tuba is an instrument for melodies :)

It does sound nice, but maybe a bit more umph in places. Just my opinion. I love it.
This and the momus quartet version are really awesome.

wow there pretty good for girls.but im an euphonium player so dont expect to me to know if playing tuba is harder for girls or not.
kyuubisharinan3296 1 year ago
@kyuubisharinan3296 actually you would be a perfect fit, if you notice the one is play a euphonium ( sometimes referred to as the Tenor Tuba ) :)

This is so good I was honestly skeptical of it's authenticity for a bit. o.o; Nice articulation.
