Our XC90's PLASTIC bumper backed up at 10 MPH into a Ford Mustang. The bumper was left unscratched; the mustang's side suffered a large dent in the door. Something clicking?
i own an 02 explorer and an 04 XC90 i have backed into things in my friends dark steep driveway a few times with the explorer suffering nothing more then a scratch i did it with the XC990 and got a dent man was i pissed the back isnt that stable on it
@T1carus The Insurance Institute's main goal is to keep costs low for insurance companies. An insurance company will see that your car performed well in this test and give you a lower premium because they won't have to pay as much if you are in an accident like this.
i agree with u, unless u go to the real trucks. Not a 1/2 ton, but the 1 tons are usually much better, but yet everything these days is getting weaker!
The vehicle weighs over 3 tons, imagine the amount of kinetic energy, if you put a hard steel bumper behind its gonna injure the passengers necks dummy, the bumpers gotta be slightly soft to cushion the blow, pick up a physics book for heavens sake
@alteclansing3333 at 5 mph no necks are going to be injured broken or snaped. at 5mph the least a bumper can do is stop the car from getting dented or damaged.
@TheAntiricerAKAhp it was made more for cars to hit like at a stop light the bumper is relatively cheap and the car wouldnt damage the tailgate or lights. it would be forced under.
...so Ford is not involved in volvo's model range. They just get the paycheck. But Seriously it was a waste of car and time. p.s. Ford plans on selling volvo stocks any buyers out there?
Can't be... Volvo **LONG AGO** moved the gas tanks between the rear wheels and routed the lines high, covered, and reinforced ( albeit with/by just plastic... ).
I wonder if they are using liquid-filled impact absorbers or something??
Beyond that, maybe a rear window washer reservoir?
who the hell put that pole there?

Guys, that liquid is the water from the clogged sunroof drains. All XC90s have clogged sunroof drains.

they need to slip it into reverse and try that test again. keep it real world. dont do it in neutral. you dont see me backing into polls in neutral.

wut was the liquid that came out at the rear bottom?
Sims3fan2000 1 year ago
@Sims3fan2000 I think it may be a washer fluid reservoir for the rear wiper - but that seems an odd place to have one, for sure.

test how it does in the hands of all those housewifes in Dubai that got their driverslicence by mailorder.

@torod213 In dubai women don't drive!
SeatBeltFTW 8 months ago
@SeatBeltFTW y would i drive when i have a driver at my disposal. lol...... *smh
razorphx 7 months ago
@razorphx What I meant was, in Dubai, and all of Saudi Arabia, it is not legal for women to drive.
If they have a private driver, why not? but they aren't allowed by the government to have a driver's license.
You know that!
I'm not attacking you or anything, I'm just being factual.
SeatBeltFTW 7 months ago
It shows that this car takes about a grand in damage from a tiny little crash.

everythings plastic!! like most cars out there, buy a TRUCK
sdcam101 2 years ago
@sdcam101
Unfortunately, many trucks don't perform appreciably better in the same test. Some trucks even performed worse than the cars!
It would be more appropriate to say to get a vehicle that has REAL CHROMED STEEL BUMPERS.

that dent will pop out, but the bumber i dont know. Its a heavy SuV so it had a lot of momentum even at a low speed as this.
